2011 Ford Edge

The current edge looks nice but is too expensive. I wish Ford would make a minivan again. These silly crossover vehicles are just rubbish. They look good but fail in every single area to really exceed, they don't have performance (compared to car), don't have carrying capacity (compared to minivan), can't cover rough terrain (compared to true SUV).

The overall style doesn't look bad (and I hate anything SUV-like), but those chrome bars need to go. They don't look bad on the Fusion (first or second gen), but they're God-awful here.

I liked it before... even with some borderline gaudy chrome rims. Now it looks like it's trying to 1-up the MKX in the teeth, ironically. Too much bling = trying too hard.

Anyway, if I had to buy a Ford, it would be the Edge.

Ford has an obsession with tacky chrome everywhere. It seems like every vehicle of theirs is doused is crappy plasti-chrome.

I had one as a rental about a year ago. I really liked the vehicle - roomy, sat and performed well for it's size. Had some decent get-up and go, and was rock solid/stable at 120mph. 😀

with the refreshes ford has been putting out lately is there even a need for traditional redesigns anymore? i guess with the huge amounts of computing power that can be devoted nowadays the line between a refresh and a redesign is blurred.

I wonder to what degree refreshes vs full redesigns are happening vs a decade ago.

Yeah I always assumed they had the same 220-230HP V6 from fusions, with the 285hp 3.5 those aren't too shabby!

only previous engine was the 3.5, which wasn't in the fusion until this latest update. i think it made 265 previously.

i really want to see the 2.0 EB.

i suppose the unibody explorer will get the same engines with a larger overall body. basically a flex with more SUVishness.

I honestly like the idea of refreshes better than full redesigns. Incremental like Porsches. Seems to result in a better product than full redesigns. It has been working well for Ford where they generally had a good vehicle to begin with...just needed polishing. Now they are polished and top of their class.

Really like it minus all that hideous chrome. When will American manufacturers wake and realize it's not the muscle car chrome we're looking for anymore?

Acura called. They want their headlights back.

I guess imitation is best form of flattery.

When you think of hwo many different cars with different headlight designs have been made over the years it begs the question...

How many unique headlight designs can there really be? 😉
