2011 Corvette Z07?

In any case, Corvette's badly need a overhaul of the body to keep up with the times. It isn't a bad looking car by any means, but it simply doesn't have the visual punch as modern day vehicles.

When the 2011 Kia Optima arrives looking better than a Corvette, it will be quite a sad day.

C6 is still one of the most beautiful mass produced car. The interior is the only thing badly needed of overhaul. Upgrade the 2004 interior to 2011 caliber and keep the same exterior and people will be happy.

We should know more about the z07 late April.

But you are wrong. I've been to plenty of NYAS and similar and sat in tons of models, and only the VW CC begins to look and feel up-class.

2) You don't get to buy a $300K Lexus even if you wanted to. Lexus chooses buyers like Harvard chooses students.

The way I look at it, ZR1 is a very limited production-run special Vette. The kind of legendary icon that only comes along once in a while. The Z07 is just a way to take some of that work and design features and put them into more accessible vehicles. ZR1 production numbers are extremely low compared to pretty much anything but Ferrari/Lambo/Bugatti/etc.

The IS250 costs $33k and other than that I'm not sure what the hell you're talking about quite honestly.

Anyways, each variant of the C6 corvette is a good deal for the performance you get. The interior isn't the best but if you're looking for something fun to drive it's hard to beat.

Your link just shows some sketches of something a designer thought up. By the time that it's watered down for production it will probably have just a few things that just barely hint at what the original sketch looks like.

You need a good balance of power, suspension and brakes... The f55 suspension and carbon brakes, combined with the lower weight of carbon fiber body parts go A LONG way.

Which is why it needs an engine boost to keep up with the other mods... to stay balanced.

The Z06 is already a finely balanced machine. Now you are upsetting that balance with bigger brakes and stiffer suspension without any power increase to use it.

I never saw the point of it in the 15 versions of Mustangs with the same stock GT engine either. 16" brakes, 8 piston calipers, 500 way adjustable coil overs, this and that... and the same virgin 260-300 HP engine. It's mostly just for looks and to take money from non car people who don't know any better. Big profit margins on brakes and coil overs, not so much on engine parts; $5000 brake kit costs $1000 to make, $5000 supercharger costs $4000 to make, etc.

Good suspension and brakes can be fun too, but only if an upgraded engine is a given. That's the first thing anyone cares about when you build a car like this. Fact: 99.9999999% of people in America drive their cars on the street, not the 'Ring.

Point taken, but how much improvement do you need on a 505HP 7.0L V8? On the street, and on most tracks too, you don't. Heck, as mentioned before, I'm fine with the ~430HP 6.2L in the Grand Sport. Besides, any more power into the Z06 and it will need an upgraded clutch, etc. That adds even more cost and complexity. To your point, these are intended to be more margin-boosting bolt-ons.

I thought the adjustable magnetic shocks were pretty standard in all Corvettes for several years now? There isn't much to upgrade when you can already go from soft as re-fried beans to stiff as concrete in a few ms in real time. Or were those found to be too much of a compromise and dropped for traditional race shocks for the Z06/ZR1?

Hmm I wondered why the Z06 drove like a shopping cart on rail road ties on our crappy lumpy streets here. I thought they all used the magnetic shocks to give both good ride quality on crappy roads and firmness on smooth pavement. Not that I care how a performance car feels on crappy roads, just expected different.

these are REAL brakes and real wheels, not ugly chromies and big wing like those guys did. heck you could get a saleen v6 vert
