what the fuck? they are speaking in french first? that's bullshit. I'm so sick of everyone here bending over for the french. I think it's something like 22% french here.

The official language of the olympics is french. They are supposed to say thing in french first all the time.

I was wondering that myself. What % of Canadians can even speak fluent French?

We're all required to take it up until grade 8, in my province, it's grade 10, at my school in particular grade 11.

I was required to take it til grade 9, but that doesn't mean I know anything more than just a few words.

I like watching the NBC coverage to see how they are explaining all the "Canadian things" to the Americans 😀

Man, I live in Canada and can't even watch my own Olympics. I really need cable TV or something...

Anywhere I can watch online?

So it'd be like the US announcing in Spanish?

:hmm:

Pretty much, we (and by we I mean my British forefathers) kicked the shit out of the French, then decided to be nice to them.

What a mistake that was, give them their own province and shovel them lots of money.

chich holding sign for bermuda was major hottie, and dane group had a lot of sweet looking chicks in it.

So it'd be like the US announcing in Spanish?

:hmm:

Not at all. It would be like the US announcing in French and English. Which they would do. Because the official language of the IOC is French. All games are required to be announced in French and English at least.

Besides, French is an official language of Canada. It's on everything here.

So... is there only one big official IOC television crew? And each broadcaster can pick and choose what cameras they want to put on air?

Not sure, but I assume so. Would be too difficult to have 30-40+ all doing the same thing with their own Cameras.
