I believe he was picked way before the season started, and had coached a stanley cup winner and finalist in his 2 previous years...his credentials are pretty good

If the Canadians loose I think it will have been because of several poor choices by Steve Y that kept our team from having the spark a lot of the other teams have. Instead of Mike Fisher we have Brendan Morrow. Instead of Steve Stamkos and his 30 goals we have a guy who had a concussion most of the season and still made the team. And sin of sins, Mike Green didn't make it after out scoring all other defencemen in the past 3 seasons.

We also need to play better against the Russians. The game against the US was beyond sloppy. I don't know how many times I saw our defencemen trying to slip shots through 4-5 guys even on powerplays, our forwards trying to pass in situations where they needed to shoot, and in our zone just flat out not covering their men or playing smart positional hockey. Our 45 shots should have been 65. The Russia/Czech game was in a totally different league then the Canada/US game and we can't be that team again.
 
So the US faces Switzerland in 20 minutes, but being on the West Coast, I don't get to watch it until 3pm? What the fuck NBC? What the fuck? You can't air an event live in the fucking time zone it occurs in? Instead we get Days of Our Lives and an hour of paid programming? You have exactly NOTHING to offer, but you still tape delay it to air it at a time when most people are still at work anyway? It's not like it's prime time! What fucking idiot decided that was a good idea? Hell, you'd get more people watching if you show it at the lunch hour anyway! And by tape-delaying it three hours for no conceivable reason, you're inevitably going to cut in on the Canada Russia game so you can't show that live either! Assholes!

No wait, I'm wrong. The Canada Russia game will be aired live on a different network. Now I get to choose whether I want to watch the game everyone is excited about or the game featuring my home country... But seeing as how they are being played hours apart, I shouldn't have to fucking choose! What a horrible fucking decision that was on part of the executives at NBC. Assholes!

And they have exactly zero channels covering the Olympics right now anyway! If you're so concerned about your soap operas and your precious "Paid Programming" then put the mens hockey on Universal or USA or one of your other loser networks that is probably showing Goonies or Speed 2 for the 6th time in a row and let us fucking watch both games back to back! Pull your heads out of your own asses long enough to realize that you've completely screwed the pooch here, fix the shit, and then proceed with whatever your next boneheaded programming decision will be. "People keep complaining about this Jay Leno thing... maybe we should just give him the entire 10pm-1:30am slot and that should fix everything!" Assholes!

Guess I'll watch the last half hour of the Goonies and some paid programming while I cry silently in the corner waiting to watch a game the rest of the world knows the results to...

In his defense, Detroit has had the injury bug this season and has been without many of their regulars for much of the time.

maybe proxy and pretend to be canadian to watch off ctv website?
 
NBC's coverage has been so incredibly horrible. Nothing is ever live, and half the events that are they put on their super obscure channels.

Stevie Y helped get Babcock too though, trust me. Although you are correct on the players that didn't make it, especially Mike Green which is retarded, they still have enough talent that they should be doing a bit better. Look how many changes Babcock has made to the Crosby line, whatever chemistry they might get in one game is gone the next. Then Crosby is averaging 15 mins, 15 mins for your best player? He better start averaging more then 20 starting tonight.

It makes me wonder what kind of influence the NHL or NHL teams have on this. Pitts might secretely be telling Babcock not to play Crosby too much or something and might have a say in it.

The CTV website says "World feed", I assumed that meant you could watch it in the US too. There's no announcers though, so it's quiet.
 
NBCOlympics' website will be showing the hockey game live. Problem is, you have to subscribe to a sponsor's internet/tv service in order to watch it live online. How gay is that!
