yeah but it was a cheap move. like he was the one who initiated the push, then in turn got advanced. and then tried to push ohno off his balance in the final because he knew you cant review it in the finals, and him and his brother wouldve won gold and silver, and ohno wouldve taken out the 2 koreans since they were passing out the outside right as he pushed.

That's quite the Conspiracy you've got going there.

true, but it doesn't matter.
the candians couldnt hold ohno off and he took bronze.
so im pretty happy. Wish Celski had a chance though.

That's the way these things go. Short Track involves a lot of strategy, especially the longer races. Sometimes going out front works, sometimes hanging back works. I suppose we know which was the better choice now.

I am sure the men in short track shouted a collective "FUCK" when Ohno announced his comeback. That guy is unbelivable.

At least Ohno got to race in the final and win another medal. That DQ call on Celski was bogus. The Canadien should've been DQ'd for grabbing on to Celski.

Your allowed to brace the person infront of you in short track. But if you look at the replay celski pushed him off with his left hand. I wouldn't blame celski though, he probably thought he was being pushed.

Russia vs Czechs match is like an NHL all star game....

NHL could use some of that game's excitement

Haha. Who is this NBC hockey commentator talking about horses? It's nice they brought in a Canadian commentator to keep things on task. 😛

This is a good day of hockey. Russia-Czech Rep and USA-Canada. I can't believe at all that the NHL is seriously considering pulling out of the Olympics. Yeah, they're down for two weeks, there is a risk of injury to franchise athletes, but the sport is the centerpiece of the winter olympics. It's fantastic advertising for the world's best league, and frankly, two weeks of this is much greater than a single all star game.

PS. Bullshit call on Jagr that led to that goal. It's like they have NHL refs out there, with their own alternate reality. Need to go back to 1 referee.

I'm still blaming my Ottawa Senators not winning the cup 4 years ago on the Olympics. But it is awesome hockey, this Russia/Czech game is great. Intense hockey, that last penalty was bs though.

Refs are heavily favoring the Russians right now. You can't run over the goalie like that. Czechs finally get a call here, but that was practically murder.

I'm torn on Professional Athletes being in the Olympics. Back in the days of the Eastern Block they certainly bent/broke the rules regarding the Amateur Ethic, but I rather like the Nobility of making the Olympics a competition of those solely dedicated to Sport rather than $.

Professionals do make the quality of the competition better though and they do have Nationality. So I can accept either guiding principle.

Unless the Olympics insists on an Amateur Ethic again, the NHL needs to stay a part of the games IMO. If they don't it will screw up the competition and might even affect the Players willing to play in the NHL, aka some Players may refuse to play in the NHL.

The thing about "professionals" in the Olympics, what about the bob sledders, lugers, ski jumpers, figure skaters, etc.? The Olympics is the pinnacle of these sports, attracting the best of the best. Sure there are other championships in those sports, but they have nowhere near the notoriety as winning say, an Olympic gold. To call these people amateurs is just plain silly.

Basically true, but the difference between them and certain other Athletes(especially in Team based Sports) is quite large in regards to being "Professional". The kind of $ available to the Athletes you mentioned is very limited and usually through other means than the Sport itself. Things like Corporate or even Public Sponsorship, Product endorsement, and the like.

Coming up next in the halfpipe!
