There were also small business loan provisions under the stimulus when banks were not lending to small businesses. So:
With stimulus: Small businesses can borrow, and create jobs.
Without stimulus: Small businesses shut down or don't get started, no jobs.

Nope.

The ONLY program of that nature was the ARC Loan program. It was incredibly small and did work as intended.

It is just completely factually incorrect to say that the stim bill caused lending to small businesses and created jobs.

Wow. The failure train continues. Clearly you're not familiar with the phrase "It takes money to make money."

The wealthy play the Democrats and Republicans because either way they win. The only way they lose is if they don't play the game.

Bingo!

The sad part is, the sheep like senseamp, spidey and craig keep supporting one of both parties, and keep getting screwed.

And that will continue to happen until people drop the parties and stop being sheep.

That's not what I read, there is a successful Ice Cream shop down in Santa Cruz that couldn't lending except under the stimulus. GOP would rather these people be unemployed than creating jobs for themselves and others.

Who said I am getting screwed? I am doing quite well, thank you, and will continue to do so.
The teabaggers are the ones who are going to get screwed big time by the policies they support.

Keep telling yourself that as your rights and freedoms slip away...

The total program was only for $264 million (that's Million, not Billion) in loans.

That's nothing.

As I have posted before, it did not work as intended. Instead of pumping additional money into the economy, the vast majority of banks required ARC borrowers to use the money to pay off existing non-Arc loans they had with the bank. I.e., the banks used the program to churn their loans into safer gov guaranteed loans.

That sounds reasonable.

Sounds about like what the more 'average type' analysts are predicting.

I think the Repubs taking control of the House is the most important aspect, but taking over governorships is also key for 2012. Even if the repubs did take over the Senate, I'd place it 3rd in importance.

I believe that the more important 2012 race will be heavily influenced by any redistricting that goes on as a result of this year's elections at the State level. Congressional House seats are good for two years and the Senate seats are held for six years but the future for the next ten years will really depend on the direction of these local elections.

This year's federal elections, for all the attention paid to them, will still only result in some form of gridlock for the next two years. That is welcome, of course, but the real work will occur after 2012 comes around and we have had the Congress once more, another third of the Senate and the Presidency in play.

Looks like it worked for them. Of course GOP regrets that all these people are employed due to stimulus.

2012, 2014, 2016.. doesn't matter. Long on promises, short on desired action.

Pubbies +47 in the House, +7 in the Senate. Reid continues as Senate majority Leader (SEIU's in charge of the voting machines, overseen by Democrats and watched by a progressive press) and Boehner becomes Speaker. (What Representative could resist voting for a politician name "Boner" in any spelling or pronunciation?)

Sadly Greenman you may be a fool, but I cannot agree with you. It is partly the job of American government to change its policies as the world changes.

America did very very well in the heady days after WW2, and built up huge national wealth when we had a very positive balace of trade advantages with the rest of the world, that position went negative in 1980, and continues to go ever more negative ever since.

Sadly that is what ails America and neither party is addressing the real issues. We have outsourced our economy, the world has changed and we have not, and until the American people quit being a hot bed of apathy, we will continue to swirl down the toilet.

Does it really matter which evil overlord party gives us that final flush down the crapper?
As the only debate is now to give tax breaks to the rich as we all flush ourselves, rich or poor down the collective crapper as obsolete fools.

At least the very very rich can flee the country before the bottom drops out of the American economy, the moderately rich, the endangered middle class, and the poor will end stuck in our own delusions of a glorious American past squandered away in bi-partisan collective stupidity.

I pretty much agree with that. Please explain to me how it repudiates what I said.
