I just happened to be over near my local BB so I thought I would stop by.
Turns out the first drive I picked up was a 200GB SE
I was sorta surprised. And then sorta angry. Cause I forgot my wallet. I think I'm gonna go back tonight and hopefully it will still be there.

There's a "JB" in the part number and also the outside of the box says "SPECIAL EDITION".

Here's one thing to keep in mind

MAKE A COPY OF THE UPC.

Good luck trying to return it AT ALL w/o it. (160gb.. returning a 200gb defective drive.. hrm..)

I also wonder if WD will replace it w/ a 200 or a 160 should you RMA it..

Also, mine seems to be rather loud as it's spinning up, but afterwards it's fine

Awesome deal. I picked one up at the Northridge Best Buy in Milwaukee -- all of the 160's there were 200's.

just got mine...only a few were 200 GBs. UPC points to the rebate model, so i hope there won't be any problems with the rebates, although on the rebate form it says WD160JBRTL instead of WD1600JBRTL (on both UPC and rebate receipt), but maybe i'm just paying too much attention to detail?

That's normal for WD's. My 80's scream as they spin up.

I found 4 200 GBs in Va Beach. Not a bad price for 200 GB, but I'm still savoring over the $108 bucks I made buying 4 120 GBs (which I got for free after rebates; I did receive the rebates thanks to family and friends)from Circuity City a few months back.

Just picked up four (4!) at the Westminster, CA Best Buy. I took two, my roommate took two. Just need to find 4 maily addy's now ;) FYI - the BB in Costa Mesa does *NOT* carry the 160's at all... we couldn't find a tag, or any drives.

Has anybody actually tested these to make sure that they are 200gb drives, and not just mislabeled???

I checked out the two Rockville, MD BBs (Shady Grove and 355). Three HDs at each, all 160 gigs. Curse you all!

WTG AT'ers...I got one too. Roseville MI was all out but I believe I got the last one in Madison Hts. It was hidden behind the computer counter behind a few other 160gb drives.

Best part is that I had about $90 in store credit and gift cards so AR its almost free for me! **Good luck to everyone**

I got one in Downers Grove, IL. Haven't tested it yet, but I'll post later tonight when I install it. It was the last one, they had one 200gb and one 160gb on the shelf. Great deal, has an ATA controller card packaged with it, too.

Confirmed in Oklahoma City, OK on North May. They have some packaged that are 200GB and some that are 160GB. I picked up one of the 200GBs :)

When formatting in XP, size is 186.31 GB. It does take a long long time to format ;))

A kind BB employee told me that BB Corporate had stores send back 160GB & 200GB drives once they found out that the wrong items were in the wrong boxes a little while ago. They also have some stores physically examining stock when it arrives to make sure it doesn't happen again. Congrats to those who scored on this deal.

I had to laugh about my visit to BB today. I walked through the aisle and the section for the 160gb was empty. I checked the overstock and hidden up there were three drives. I asked the employee if I could check out those drives, and he asked me if I was looking for the 200's??!!
He said that he thought they were 160's but he would check. Of course all three were 200's......I guess it was his little stash....:)

Another store I went too had three, and I decided to buy one. Well about 40 minutes later I returned to get the others, and voila, they were gone......

Unfortunately, I've been looking for these the past few days and all the DC-MD and Northern VA stores are 160GB :(

I bought an 80Gb SE a short time ago for a raid set up and when I opened it, 100Gb SE! There was a yellow slip inside that said because of stock shortage, a larger drive was substituted and congratulations. If the drive says 200jb(jumbo buffer) on the drive itself, it is 200Gb. So stop worrying about it and go grab one!

Last I checked, Burbank BB has 2 left (after I picked myself up one). The guys in that dept. know about them, so if you are in the valley area and want them I would head over grab them before they gone.

I wonder if the UPC code is right for the rebates.

not sure if this has been answered yet, but since the scanner reads the drive as a 160gb, it's most likely the same upc. although there has been times when multiple upcs were marked as the same item. just make sure the upc on the 160gb is the same.

also as for warranty, no need to try to return to BB. the JBRTL drives come with 3yr warranty if anything does go wrong. with or without upc.

I picked up 3 in the Laurel Maryland store. My two bosses each picked up 2 and there were still some on the overstock rack on top... I'm "guessing" that those were also 200's.

My brother went to 4 stores in the Indianapolis area and bought all he could find... a total of eleven... mostly for great gifts at a GREATLY reduced price!
