I heard AvB recently and was not too impressed. Then again, while I continue to enjoy the genre, I have been pretty down on the whole club experience. Probably just because we have such shitty clubs in DC for such big events.

No Hip-hop DJ's? I like electronic music, but what exactly is a DJ for once he's recorded his music? WTF does he do that an ipod set to shuffle can't? These club douches don't even do live mixing and scratching. They just hold the side of their heads and nod to the music.

i saw armin van buuren at Glow sometime earlier this year and it was fun.

the thing that kinda blew though was his set was pretty much the same set from his state of trance i had heard from the previous week.

oh, and the other thing that blew is i realized i no longer like being in places that are packed shoulder to shoulder where you pay $8 for a plastic cup full of mixed drinks.

Guetta kind of surprises me, even though I like his stuff. Deadmau5 at #6 really surprises me. #8-10 make me pretty happy. Carl Cox still being up that high is good to see, I've met him a few times.

Thanks for the list, OP!

I'm not so sure about that...I mean DJ AM (RIP) was pulling in 5 figures a night doing a show here in the states. Certain names can pack clubs...

Yea but im talking exposure. You dont see DJ's on the top 100 list over here. You will see it on the charts in Europe. I have 2 friends from Ukraine and all they listen to is trance/dance/house music.

Most people over here dont know who Basshunter is even.

I am a dj myself btw. You make good money being one. Its only a part time thing for me.

I know PvD sometimes does a whole new mix and stuff with a song during live shows. Same thing with BT.

i was a bit surprised to see oakenfold out of the top 10

Oakenfold is a shell of his former self. He was at the top of his game in the mid to late 1990s which climaxed in 1999 when he went on his Essential Mix world tour; he also took first place in the DJMag listings for both 1998 and 1999. If any of you guys really like trance and haven't heard any of his Essential Mixes from 1999, then I highly suggest you download all of them - they will literally blow your mind - if you just want a taste, at least pick up Home @ Space, Ibiza which is one of my favorite EM's of all time.

Late 90's mixes like Perfecto Presents Another World, Perfecto Presents Travelling, and Tranceport are all great. I feel like some of his stuff fell off after 2002 with his studio albums like Bunkka - but a lot of that is because his stuff from 3 years before was awesome. A lot of what's been popular from him since then has been a rehash of the stuff that he did in '98-00. Just as an example, I looked at the track listings of Oakenfold Anthems which he released last year and I recognized like 75% of it as old stuff.
