I don't think he'll be much of an issue, especially after 4 months off.

You're assuming Orlando and LA have the same rotation schedule.

I haven't even seen the Magic play, but having seen the Lakers humiliate the Nuggets on the first game on the Nugget's home court, I figured them for the ultimate champs. They really know how to game their opponents. I'll watch, but I expect the Lakers to take it.

Dont worry, the Nets will be winners again someday.....maybe.....errr....probably not.

Maybe when they sign lebron, which is a very very high possibility with him sporting NY gear and hanging out with his NY buddy lately.

I think much of the speculation about LeBron signing with the Nets is based on the nets moving to Brooklyn. And that has been pushed back several times already, so who knows when/if the Nets move there.

Many Jerseyans (such as myself) are not Nets fans.

Is that what ppl in new jersey are called?

i've always wondered...

california = californians
new jersey = new jerseyans
utah = ???
washington = ???

china = chinese
america = american but why not americese?
others...etc = ???

etc...
anyhow...

GO LAKERS!!!!

I guess you haven't watched many games at all by the looks of it.

if lakers win this, they need to do it right. kobe needs to step up and and prove the doubters, nay-sayers wrong (even if I am one of those :p). i mean if we see his full skill potential and closing ability...not only is it beautiful to watch, it's hard to beat.

and pau is very good. i am sure phil jackson understands the need to get him involved.

When Kobe has a high scoring game, the Lakers as a whole don't do well cus he's not distributing the ball as much. The key to winning isn't Kobe, it's Pau/Odom/Bench.

Funny isn't it, that all the great players win championships not with great individual performances but with team performances. What makes them superstars in the first place?

Championships require at least one superstar. What's the last team to win the NBA Finals without a superstar and just good team performance?

Now I will go out and say that a team with a superstar can and have lost in the Finals. Namely Mr. Clutch, or Mr. NBA icon, Jerry West. Jerry West has 9 NBA Finals under his belt and won one time out of the 9 to have the Lakers crowned NBA Champions. West was so good that at the end of '69 Finals, he won the MVP despite his team (the LA Lakers) losing the series - the only time this has been done. So you can still lose with a superstar on your team, but you better have one to have any chance of winning a NBA Championship.

Most championship teams have had 2 HOF level players, very few have had only one. It can be said that players' performances in the finals have helped make them HOF contenders, but it almost always takes atleast two all-stars, if not superstars.

Didn't the detroit pistons win one a few years back without a superstar? Unless your counting Billups as a superstar, but I recall he wasn't even named to an all-nba team the year they won it.

Chauncey Billups was more of their superstar - Ben Wallace couldn't score to save his life. LOL at the Cle vs. Orl game - reggie miller on howards first foul on wallace, something on the lines of "thats a terrible foul to give, i'm not even sure wallace could make that layup" :laugh:

Funny though, wallace was a beast on the D back with detriot but now is just a reserve in Cleve

Yep, Isaiah Thomas was an amazing player.

Last year, the Celtics did not have a superstar-level performer. Nobody on that team averaged 20 points or 10 rebounds.

I agree, Ben Wallace was too much of a detriment offensively to be considered a superstar. Detroit was a team of all-stars that played well - even organically - together, particularly defensively.
