how was that even close to a flagrant foul? Bynum went for the ball and even hit it.

yeah i gotta agree, not even close to a flagrant, not even a tech, just a hard foul

I like how the commentators are saying that Denver are getting the foul calls because they are driving to the hoop. Well, if you're not getting foul calls when you drive to the hoop, then you're not going to drive to the hoop as much.

This game was over from the start. Refs got paid. Looks like we're gonna have 7 games for both conference finals.

the lakers are +5 in foul, yet -14 in FTA.

Atleast yesterday with the Magic/Cavs the FT disparity was their plan to make Howard earn it.

lol @ foolishness. Typical whiny Lakers fan.

well, although there has been a bunch of questionable fouls in the begining against the lakers, it seems the refs are trying to "make it up" by these stupid T's against Denver.

Still, Denver definitely outplayed my poor lakers tonight 🙁. Great series so far, but I'm just very sad right now. I hope Lakers pick it up next game. BAH!! 🙁

I see the plan now. Yesterday game had 86FTAs. These refs are trying to show the others refs they are gonna out do them. Currently its at 79. They already got yesterday's crew with the technicals they've handed out.

How many of those fouls were the result of the Lakers driving the ball to the hoop and getting the call?

Billups is the main reason why the Nuggets are even here at the Western Conference Finals. Great leadership by him. Birdman and J.R. Smif had great games. The whole Nuggets bench was great tonight. Sad thing is that this game hovered around double digits for most of the game while every other game was close even with Anthony having a horrible night. I hope this gives the Nuggets the confidence they need going to LA.

Infuriating game to watch if you're a Lakers fan, between the cheap shots (Kobe trip in particular), bad calls, and the downright refusal to grab loose balls. Dahnte Jones drove twice in the last two minutes, when the game was over - would it have been too much to ask for Mbenga to put him on his ass?
Overall, LA's probably lucky they didn't lose by 30+.

The officiating in the playoffs overall has been absolutely horrific - they've bounced between missing clear violations and calling every little thing. It's pretty unbelievable, and it's a shame that the refs are so sheltered at this point... Frankly, if I made as many mistakes as some of these guys are making, I would be worried about job security.

Yea I would be pissed if I was a Lakers fan cus here we go yet again with their inconsistent play as a whole. There have been retarded calls on both sides but Lakers to me don't deserve to win a title. They don't have the championship mentality.

To be honest I'm not really sure what you're referencing, but there hasn't been much of a back-and-forth in this series, and in the previous series it's gone both ways. Within the scope of this game, it was just one more thing that bothered me. It's all the more annoying when the refs somehow miss the call.

That's what Phil Jackson is supposed to do - bring them a championship mentality. Clearly, Kobe is not interested in doing this; it's just not his personality.

There's a couple of Laker fans that post in this thread who incessantly whine about the Lakers not "getting the calls". As a group, Lakers fans are the whiniest bunch I know.

ugh! I still don't understand why fisher is getting so much playing time versus farmer!

I don't know, either. I was looking at the box score: Fisher, 2-7, 5 pts, 1 rbd, 1 ast. I think he's shot.

Oh the irony... lol. Since you seem to be the most active poster in this thread I'm pretty sure you've noticed that the fans against the Lakers are just as whiny. Bottom line is, sports fans are all a bunch of little bitches when it doesn't go their way.

Ah, you must be referring to the "Kobe-haters".

Seriously, though, in the 25+ yrs I've been following team sports, Lakers fans have consistently been the whiniest. I'm talking about in the real world, too, not just online.

Believe it or not, there are bunches of sports fans who have learned not to whine when things seem to break against their teams. That said, any Sacramento Kings fan who whines about the Kings getting screwed in 2002 against the Lakers have my sympathy. That was a true sham.

A few years ago there was a string of officiating gaffes in the NFL that was so bad that I didn't watch football for a month. Oddly enough, my team was positively affected by the poor officiating.

I find the overall quality of officiating in the NBA pretty poor. I think most posters here agree. Kobe and LBJ get obvious preferential treatment, although Kobe gets less now because his midrange jumper is so good he doesn't drive as often. Other "stars" like Paul Pierce and Brandon Roy drive to the hoop but do not get the calls Kobe and LBJ do.

Too many fouls are called on the defense when the offensive player initiates contact. This is ridiculous. Both offense and defense should have the right to any portion of the court. All the foul calls ruin the flow of the game. And the inconsistency of the calls baffles the players, coaches and fans.
