2009 Black Lexus ES350

I just purchased a new black lexus ES 350. I think it looks great. I am 28. I am now getting comments from alot of people saying I purchased an old mans car. Most of these people do drive older crappier cars so I'm not sure if its jealousy or truth.

I looked it up and the age demographic for people buying this car is alot older than me but I think the car looks great and will last me a long time. I plan on driving it into the ground.

Do you think this car looks like an old mans car?

to put it succinctly: yes.

but the reasons why: its so comfortable and reliable, its like driving a moving couch. if that is what you're looking for then its all good.
 
Well, the ES is an old man's car, especially compared to the sex-on-wheels IS. However, if you like it, who cares?

Haha, no. Unfortunately, it was either the IS 250 or law school, and chose the latter. Hopefully the 2012 model is still nice. It will make an excellent graduation present to myself.
 
It's an awesome car, and old man nothing. You bought what you wanted and don't follow the crowd of idiots who would rather be shaking around inside something with a stiff suspension.

When I was 21 I bought my car which I still drive today, a 2001 Lexus ES 300. Same thing as yours just older model. No one I met said I bought an old mans car, sounds like you know some pretty immature/dumb people.
 
Its more of a middle aged lady's car, the car alternative for the RX350. However that doesn't matter as long as you like the car.

you have to admit a FWD, luxury, automatic only car that makes no pretenses about being sporty isn't exactly what you think a younger person drives.

don't get me wrong, we have an ES330 and its a nice car.

I always laugh when people say that. Same platform != same car. Better interior design/material, Lexus brand/service/warranty and better finish/quality easily differenciate it from Camry, and justifies the price difference IMO.

So much of Toyota/Lexus hater.
 
My question is why did you purchase the ES350? There's better cars on the Lexus line up. To me, the ES350 is basically a Camry XLE V6.
 
I see mostly middle age women or old men driving the ES350 and it seems the younger crowd prefers the IS. Then again I drive a CTS and get called an old man all the time.
 
I love the car and want (ed) one so bad (for a few years now) but have been worried about the transmission issues (early death and constant flares) reported over the last few years. Reports that a TSB came out in March to correct the issue (redesigned transmission and torque converter + firmware fix). I would still love to get one but the money isn't there right now anyway.

Oh, and I'm not sure it's an old man car. Maybe a middle age car.

Spoiled in the sense that they are looking down upon this car/bashing it, when most people in the world will never own a car of that magnitude.

And yea I own a Harley, and my car, and I paid for my education, all out of my own pocket.

Plus, ever since I was a kid I've always appriciated both types of cars, sporty and non sport luxury boat type cars. I guess people of intelligence can appriciate comfort/luxury. My short lived burn for a 99 GSX Eclipse or RX-7 car ended when I was about 15, seems like most people here are still in that phase.

Again to the OP, it's an awesome car, you will be very happy with it, and people with half a brain will compliment you and your car.

As for the Camry debate, it is and it isn't. In my personal experience I can't find a Toyota Camry tranmission filter/gasket that fits the ES, it has it's own. Also I can't source a drivers side mirror glass replacement, again only the ES one fits.
 
Whatever, you wanted the car you got it. When the fuckers ask you why you did or tease you, point out what they're driving and say "that's what I thought."
 
I'd say it is, but Id rather get an ES over an IS. Its comfortable, practical, it doesn't scream for attention and thats the way I like it (though Im biased, I've had a 92 ES and currently drive an 00).
