I never understood why these forums were so anti global warming.

Despite the chest-beating to the contrary, much of this forum is anti-science in general. You should see the response to my recent chiropractic thread. People around here tend to think that their gut instinct trumps science.

What? God you really ARE a noob. These forums are anything BUT anti-science. Most of the people in here are great and math and science, and are pretty good at keeping up with the science world. Sure there are a few rare ones that don't believe the science side, but the gross majority of AT like the cold provable facts of science.

You really have no fucking clue what's going on around these parts do you GA?

see the 1=999..... thread

I wonder how Al Gore is going to explain this recent "Arctic Blast 2008" that hit tons of northern states.

Funny, I just drove the whole east coast and the Ski resorts are hurting pups, no snow and too warm for snow anyway.

Must be that Global Cooling the OP and Bogus Conservative crap talking about.

I second this. Most people here, despite the elitism, are fairly intelligent. The forum is anything but anti-science.

I also agree regarding most members, but there is a large anti-science contingent on this forum.

Doesn't bode well for the future 🙁

A week before Christmas we were well on the way to -20C up here in Toronto, ON and we got like 2ft of snow in a couple of days. Yesterday it was +12C and most of the snow that hasn't been compacted is now gone. Global cooling.. warming.. I'm not sure what to think anymore.

It used to snow all the time in winter. Now you get occasional snow.

The planet experiences cycles of cooling and warming. There's no proof that global warming = perpetual warming until the earth cooks itself or some shit.

Did you graduate from Clemson with a Meteorology degree too?

If so I'd ask for a refund.

Dave, you're the last person on these forums who should be allowed to point fingers. You're literally the village idiot around here. Put on your dunce cap and go back and sit in the corner, nobody said you could move yet.

"science" has failed with this one, but then the global warming funding is keeping some of them nicely employed.

The only thing disproven this year was the notion that the free market works.

that was disproven a long time ago, stupid people and layman just never got the message.

OP please go watch The Day the Earth Stood Still. It is the best movie of 2008 and it'll tell you what'll happen if we don't take care of our earth!! 😀

i love when people say that just because it's cold, global warming doesn't exist. global warming can cause global cooling because of its effects on the ocean currents. didn't you people watch the day after tomorrow?

yeah, and in the day after tomorrow, the guy whose computer model predicts the weather was modeling for prehistoric time periods... meaning it happened before humans started using fossil fuels... meaning the movie is PURE FUD.

Or possibly the notion that our market is actually "free"...I HAVE heard the claim that the economic crisis was caused not by a lack of regulation, but by TOO MUCH regulation.

Takes all kinds to make a world I guess.

You're never going to be able to "prove" something to everyone, no matter how convincing your proof.

No, "politics" and "the media" have failed with this one, and clearly the education system has as well if you think that it's not still an open question.

And how dare you imply that a large contingent of scientists would deliberately obscure the truth just for their funding. There will always be a few bad apples, but all in all scientists care much more than an accurate message is presented than the people who end up doing the presenting.

Maybe if you actually read journals instead of mainstream lowest-common-denominator media articles you would realize this. But instead you've let people with agendas tell you what the "scientists" have concluded.
