is sarah palin a joke?

Man you guys are setting the bar so low, that as long as she doesnt fill her panties with a large watery crap on stage, and begin to fling it at people......

Exactly what I'm saying. As long as she doesn't cry tonight, she wins.
Not really. A status-quo debate does nothing to help McCain (as the first presidential debate showed).

He needs a clear winning performance from Palin, otherwise he continues to slide in the polls.

I am more looking forward to Biden. Whatever thought crosses his mind, he says it. The thought-to-speech filter is almost non existant. Maybe the "c" word will slip out, and Mccain wraps up the election early

If he says something completely candid and glip and wholly inappropriate, I am going to donate money to the Obama/Biden campaign. How awesome would it be.

I just got burned when, after her convention speech, several of my friends' moms said "she is just like me!" and became enthusiastic about the McCain ticket for the first time. That pissed me off to infinity. I am anticipating her to smile and bs her way through, and fearful that the not-so-smart Americans will eat that up. Hopefully America will prove me wrong... we will see.

Did you tell them you didn't want them to be vice president either?

The debate will be boring until Gwen Ifill asks Sarah Palin a question she doesn't have a quick talking point response for. She'll ask Gwen to repeat the question, (similar to the spelling bee stall tactic), then blurt out that Gwen's pronunciation confused her, and after all, she's just not used to that kind of thing in Alaska.

speaking about pronunciation, or more to the point Palin's voice.

I wonder if by the 15th minute people are going to get tired of listening to her voice!!

I think as she gets more stressed she gets more shrill. By the end of the debate only dogs will be able to hear her speak!

I may watch.

Biden vs Palin. Is it possible to laugh and puke at the same time?

I'm hyped but I bet we'll see a bunch of headlines tomorrow about how impressive Palin's performance was...

Oh so as long as she holds up as well as she has done against Katie she'll be golden?

Yes the Christian Tools will vote for her no matter what, we know that.. but the undecided's who watching tonight will have a good idea when she has to "get back to them"

It depends on how the media spins her performance. They were fawning over her just after the convention speech. It was Sarah Palin everywhere, "The Obama of the Republican Party". If she doesn't make any major mistakes, smiles, and gets in a few one-line zingers we can see the media go back to their previous adoration of Palin. Doesn't matter if Biden beats her in substance squarely. This is America. Of course, I hope it doesn't happens that way, but I'm preparing myself just in case.

Palin has been coached. She will have "lifeline spiels" to go to for each topic if/when her brain freezes.

I'm hoping against hope that Palin raises Hillary as an example of any point she tries to make. It would be the perfect setup for Biden to say

Governor, I've served with Hillary Clinton. I know Hillary Clinton. Hillary Clinton is a friend of mine.

Governor, you're no Hillary Clinton.

If you're too young, or you don't otherwise know the reference, see this.

Yes, it would be perfect for him to rip someone off! We are in agreement.

A you are no jack kennedy moment might be funny but remember Quayle/Bush won that election :p

I just hope Biden doesnt look too much like a bully. I hope more for a Cheney v. Edwards where he just lays an asskicking without being an ass. If that makes any sort of sense.

To which she could reply:

"Joe, didn't your last experience plagerizing a speech teach you anything?"

;)

Which could be cut off by prefacing the statement to say:

To borrow a line from my good friend, the late Senator Lloyd Bentsen... Governor, I've served with Hillary Clinton. I know Hillary Clinton. Hillary Clinton is a friend of mine.

Governor, you're no Hillary Clinton.

Advantage Biden.

Of course, the whole scene is just speculation.

It seems to me the expectations for Palin are SO low going into this debate that McCain may enjoy a boost after it if she manages to stop the bleeding at all. Even a middling performance that makes her seem reasonably bright will do the job, and I wouldn't be surprised if she manages that. If her performance in this debate looks like the Couric interview, however, it's all over, and McCain's goose is cooked.

I'm really not that excited. At first I thought she might be a pretty good pick, being an outsider and all. Even though her experience is lacking I figured she might do alright. I don't put much stock in all the BS scandal stuff that was put on her as soon as she was announced, but it seems that everything that has come out of her mouth lately is semi retarded. I don't have high hopes for tonight.

Yeah even if she's able to get by tonight she's obviously a real poor pick for VP and demonstrates how piss poor McCain's judgment is.

I imagine saRAH will be okay. I wouldn't expect a great deal of 'depth' from her one way or the other.

For the good of the country I hope she dosen't have one of those Miss South Carolina Teen USA moments. It would reinforce to the World just how dumb 35% of the US electorate is ...
