quarter mile in 12.5 sec. at 119.9 mph
That is MOVING.

Article states that this is barely a faster 1/4 time than a stock GT500, but this one is pulling away hard at the top end.
That should run low 11's if you can hook it up.

Yep. The guys with Whippled GT500's on stock tires can barely get into the 12's...but once they get some DR's and not 20 inch wheels with that type of width (275...what were they thinking?) they can even hit some high 10's.

Anyway at least it has a SRA, so no need for a brace like with the IRS on my cobra.,..wheel hop sucks :(

This is just my opinion but I think that is one of the most hideous cars I have seen in a LONG time.

I don't know what it is, besides the weight, but based on their power output Ford really cranks out some slow ass cars... I mean the Z06 has 100 fewer hp and posts a much higher (125+) trap speed...

One is meant to be a track/street car, one is muscle with a big engine and exhaust. It make me happy is all.

Yup. 12.5s have been done by stock 03/04 with IRS if you get the wheel hop under control.

What sucks is all the new cars are pigs. Charger, Challenger, even the Camaro is going to be 4100 lbs. :(

That was my reaction...two tons.

That's the biggest thing working against this car.

It's for the baby boomers that would be better off in an SRT8 or Audi / BMW

What are you considering stock? Even with slicks I don't think the 03/04 cobras dipped to a 12.5 unless that is a non-corrected time.

When the Eclipse passed the now-dead Camaro in curb weight, I said things were out of control, as the people buying the Eclipse typically referred to the Camaro as "big and heavy". There's a large number of cars that I consider just too damned fat.

Hell a 1964 Impala didn't weigh 3500LBs and those things were considered aircraft carriers.

New government safety regulations suck for us performance oriented people. They are just going to make cars heavier and heavier.

I'm surprised that the "Green" crowd hasn't started an "It's safe enough!" campaign. Because if you could make cars weigh what they used to, even the "weak" engines would make the cars of today fly and get great gas mileage. Cars really have been going up in weight as a whole since the '70s when most "heavy" cars were made. They only started getting lighter because for a time they got downsized to the point where they fit in gum ball machines.

...and can someone please explain to me why the Smart ForTwo only gets 33/40MPG?

Enough of the off topic, 725HP is a car that is just aching for some "DOT legal" tires that nobody in their right mind would put a tread life warrenty on :)

On top of poor gas mileage considering its dimensions, the manufacturer recommends premium fuel... Diesel has never been more attractive...

Mustang has posted the best selling numbers throughout history for Ford or any other car maker in the performance side.

Its as simple as that. They have molded it more general than a specific vette/viper.

GTR is ~ 3700lbs (someone correct this please) and that's not stopping it one bit. GT500's problem is traction.

that's a 10% difference in weight you realize, also the GTR is not out yet for real world testing.
