There are a couple candidates I like more but I'd have to say I keep the closest tabs on Giuliani. A couple of his positions concern me ("gun control" most notably) but I think he is realistically the Republican's best shot. He isn't an easy target for the Democrats to demonize unlike a lot of the other candidates.
Either you're suffering from dementia or you just read something that changed your mind about him in the past 2 hours?

Libertarian candidates that don't stand a snowball's chance in hell of actually being elected to anything. I'll qualify my statement, I like him the most out of anyone running that is actually remotely electable.

Fair enough.

The more he definatively stakes out his positions, the more people he will alienate. No way around it. When you're "charming & articulate" and unknown, people can project all their favorite positions upon you, but as the campaign moves foreward he will be forced to take stands.

I am still waiting for Newt or Thompson. We need a good conservative in the race so we don?t have to ?settle? for a semi-conservative as we did with Bush and look at what that got us.
I think Newt would be great for the ?race? because he talks ideology and very few others do that.

Yeah, I'd like to see Newt enter if only to inject ideas into the debate. Don't think he can win though.

Interested to Fred T enter as well. Blunt speakers can make things interesting. He almost doesn't seem to want the Presidency, I foind that attractive in some way. I'm a firm believer in the old saying about those that actually crave the job are the worst people to hold it.

Hillary could have similar problems in that she has not campaigned a lot for herself. When she is forced to talk without a script she can make mistakes.

As of now, Romney is the front runner in my book. But if Thompson got in the race, he'd be my pick.

Richardson, Paul, Obama..

If chuck hagel ran, especially with bloomberg, he's probably get my vote.

Of the Republicans, I favor Ron Paul and Rudy the most. Of the Dems, it would be Obama. I do hope Gingrich enters as I like him a lot.

I am watching Romney and Obama.

Despite what you might feel is his ?religion baggage?, Romney?s core beliefs resonate with the republican base, and I think he can parlay that into the nomination if he can score early in the primaries. I personally know many, many fundie Christians who actually support him or have at least expressed positive opinions of him. This has been very surprising to me because I really believed that these people considered LDS a cult religion. I think we make a mistake putting all fundamentals into that smaller ?whacko? category.

Obama is not only intelligent but has a real sense of conceptualizing ideas that are important to the base of the party. His positive message is refreshing. His hammering on the belief that we need to come together to accomplish goals for the WHOLE country resonates. Seem like the Dems in particular like the idea that a president is responsible to all, and not just a party.

With that said however, I think the republicans will rally around the guy who will give them the most sense of security ? McCain. I also believe that Hillary has the support of those inside the power structure of the democratic party and that will lead her to the nomination.

I sure wish the Dems could put someone worthwhile into the mix so I can vote for my own party :(

What issues would that be?

Hillary. She's the one candidate who evokes the most fear and loathing from the elites who are currently in office. I think it would be hilarious for her to win the presidency and witness the fear and loathing of the ultra conservative Right who have done so much damage to this great nation.

Yep, that's the main reason I am voting for Hillary.

I think Ron Paul is an interesting candidate, and quite honestly the only person in the race right now I can see myself voting for. The rest of the field is composed of tools of such impressive magnitude that it makes Kerry vs Bush look like a clash of the titans. And I don't mean "tools" in the generic way, each and every person running (except Ron Paul) has become almost a caricature of the sleazy politician trying to appeal to the morons that make up his or her base. McCain, despite very admirable objections to the "religious right" in the past, has been prostrating himself before those folks quite a lot lately. Rudy's truly pathetic attempt to look "strong" on terrorism through the always effective strategy of suggesting that liberals want the terrorists to win. Hillary being "pro-family" to a truly psychotic extent. It just goes on an on. By no stretch of the imagination do I support all (or even most) of Ron Paul's views, but at least he doesn't come off like a complete idiot.

Yup. Those are my two early predictions to get out of the primaries.

The GOP won't let Giuliani and his centrist views slip through and the Democrats will have enough sense to keep Clinton -- due to her unelectability -- away

Yes, he seems very willing so far to work with (pander to?) the conservative base

Ron Paul has zero chance of getting elected and all those who vote for him will help getting a more socialist government.

My money is on Guiliani.....not because I think he's perfect, because I think it's the best we can reasonably get from the conservative aisle.

Think the fascism is bad now? Good luck with Guiliani. ;)

Ron Paul is the only choice. A true paleo-conservative who believes in national sovereignty, secure borders and limited government.

Electing Ron Paul is the only choice or voting for him is the only choice?

Because there's a difference...
