I just got an email from CBS Marketwatch that Memphis defeated Kansas 75-68 in OT to take the title. I guess they didn't see the same game everyone else did. I can't really give kudos to Kansas for winning as I can say that Memphis deserved to lose because they couldn't make free throws when they meant the most in regulation. For the first time in NCAA history 4 top seeded teams made it to the final four, and in my opinion all 4 teams sucked.

I'm glad I'm not the only one that laughed at that. I sure hope no one's life ever depends on your opinion.
I mean, because its not like KU hit a game-tying 3 pointer with seconds left to send it to overtime, oh wait. Sure, Memphis lost it, but KU also won it, as they could have choked as well. Nevermind that all 4 tore through their brackets, beating some very good teams. Oh, and their combined records of 145-12 throughout the season (again, against some very good teams), with all 4 winning their conference championships as well. Then the two teams that made the championship game pretty handily beat the other number one seeds.

Sorry to crap on your team, I'm just a BB fan. None of the 4 teams in the final four looked like championship teams to me. And yes it was a great 3 pointer that sent Kansas to OT. If KU had made a decent percentage of 3s in the game Memphis would have been out of it much earlier.

What team? None of the final four teams are "my" team (I only have one team, and that's in the NFL). Again, I don't know how you can say none of them looked like a championship team. I'm not going to argue it, as it makes literally no sense.

Blah. Ok, gotta give some credit to Kansas. Memphis got hosed by the refs during the first half. But that is NOT why we lost.
We lost because we lost our confidence. At about 1:43 left in regulation, I think we were up by 8. We missed a basket, Kansas rebounded, went down, and made a great shot. Then on our inbound pass, Kansas stole the ball and made another basket.
At that point, even though we were still up by 4 and had been playing well, we lost it. We lost our confidence and got scared. Kansas fed on it, and continued, and tied the game.
That's why Memphis lost. Not free throws, not the refs. We lost our confidence, and Kansas kept their's. That was the ballgame.

Great game to watch. I'm convinced the two best teams in the nation played each other tonight. Thank goodness for the NCAA tournament. College Football still has the terrible BCS system. The NCAA tournament is pretty much perfect. Especially this year with the 4 best teams (more than likely) in the final four.
Also have to give props to the Refs for once. They did great this game, they let em' play and stayed out of it when they could. Plus they rightfully retracted one point from memphis that would of won them the championship. Sucks for Memphis, but it was the right call, and that's all that matters. No one gives praise to the refs when they do a good job. They do screw up a lot normally though, so I can understand 😛 - Pac-10 officials blow more than all others.

Yes, Memphis lost because of free throws. They proved in previous games they actually could make them, but were too tight and choked at the line. Particularly Douglas, who couldn't hit any outside shots either when they mattered most.
No question Kansas' comeback got in their heads after cutting into Memphis' 9 point lead, but there's no reason to make it any more complicated than it was - they had it in their hands and lost it at the line.
On another note...what happened to Rose's attacking. 😕 I'd chalk that up to freshman inexperience, but he was too willing to pick up his dribble and dish quickly whenever he was doubled down the stretch. Fundamentally strong, but mentally weak when they really needed him to create.
Credit to Kansas again tho, the played to take the ball out of Rose's hands, and Rose happened to make it easy for them down the stretch.

Hitting a FT when the national championship is on the line is Twilight Zone. CDR was very smooth on the line before, but he was feeling nervous pressure at the end of regulation and it altered his release. You can tell he's superstitious, the way he taps the tatoo on his arm before each FT shot. It's too bad, but he's a phenomenally great player.
