2008 McViper. yup, McLaren Viper

"One rumour is that McLaren is involved with the Viper project and is tweaking a V10 to put out nearly 650-horsepower! "

Um that's not impressive at all.

2005 Hennessey SRT-10 Viper Venom 1000 (1000HP). Read about it and then let us know what you think.

I'm still not clear if this is Gordon Murray/Ron Dennis' McLaren, or McLaren ASC (an American company with no connection to the English McLaren). It sounds like the latter, but that engine shot appears to have the English McLaren logo. I don't think the English McLaren does engine development anyway, do they?

I had an 05 Viper, it was fun to drive, just really not a comfortable car.

Couldn't carry the $1000 worth of weed you just picked up comfortably in it?

Why oh why would they put it in the convertible? It's hideous. Now the coupe, that's a different story.

You know, I'm sure the car is fast and all, but I'm getting tired of this design. It would be nice if Chrystler came out with a fresh new design.

I seriously can't imagine sitting in the dodge viper hennessey TT 1000HP. My friend once took me for a ride in his STI, and I found that ridiculously fast. Going WOT in one of those 1000HP monsters must be absolutely exhilarating - sub 2 second 0-60.

It's the former. McLaren developed with Mercedes the SLR since Mercedes and Dodge are the same company, the McLaren team is now "tweaking" the Viper.

Yes it is. Hennessy (IF you can ever get your car back from him) is an independent operation, not a factory-produced and supported vehicle.

All you people crying ugly on this car. Remember that this is a PROTOTYPE, so they're testing the enhanced engine in the current Viper...

That carbon fiber hood is hideous.

It's not carbon fiber. It's supposedly a vinyl cover they use to conceal the identity of pre-release cars so the public does not see them. But most often they are ridiculously obvious, making the cover not very useful.
