2008 Jeep Liberty

Looks pretty good, going back to the squared off look. Beefing up the off roading is also nice.

I think people were just pissed that DCX changed the name to "Liberty". It funny how outside NA it's still called the Cherokee. The Liberty was a much needed update it got an updated suspension engine. The Cherokee was essentially the same SUV for almost 20 yrs.

I think people were just pissed that DCX changed the name to "Liberty". It funny how outside NA it's still called the Cherokee. The Liberty was a much needed update it got an updated suspension engine. The Cherokee was essentially the same SUV for almost 20 yrs.

An update is fine, but the Liberty is just a HUGE departure from what the Cherokee was.

The 4.0 inline, unfortunately, has been put out to pasture - even the wrangler uses a newer 3.8 starting in '07.

You've heard of the Liberty CRD, haven't you? I believe they are a limited-production thing, but a diesel-powered liberty does exist. I agree with you on the looks, though.

Yeah, having windows that actually roll down when you press the button is highly overrated and only a minor annoyance, especially when you are driving up to a toll booth or a drive thru window in pouring rain. Also, getting the rear axle wet (like on a boat ramp) will cause thousands of dollars worth of damage. Oh, and I used to rent cars to Jeep customers. A loyal bunch they were, at least when it came to renting cars. I knew quite a few of them by name because I literally saw them every few weeks. Yeah, the Cherokee was a great vehicle...:roll:

I swear, there is no fricken way I'll ever buy a Jeep.

I have never heard of axle issues with the Cherokee. I mean, I have had experience with hundreds of people with them without any problems. I'm sure the 3 you saw regularly are a much better sample. I'd love to see any data that says a Cherokee is unreliable.

The Cherokee in question belonged to my boss and it was his company car. I drove it quite a bit and was certainly aware of its shortcomings, of which there were many. It spent quite a bit of time in the shop too for a brand new vehicle.

Most of the people I remember seeing were owners of the older Wagoneer, Grand Wagoneer and the Grand Cherokee.

Not exactly Lexus quality here.
