Retard. There's a good chance it's built in the USA. I know my Titan was.

..I like the Titan but too big for my needs. Really like a mid size truck.

Yeah, 99% of the time it's more than I need. I'm hoping to get a car trailer for it soon though, so I'll be putting that V8 too good use then.

My Frontier ('05 Crew Cab LE) was built in Kentucky.

The Fronty is a much more comfortable (and better driving) truck than the Taco.

Believe it was built in Tennessee. My Tacoma is built in California. Technically the V6 has more power, but I don't believe it has better gas mileage. My memory was that in Auto, 4x4 format, the Nissan got 15-20 and Tacoma got 18-21.

The Tacoma does not have as much low end torque, but has plenty of towing power and is fun to run through the gears (I have the manual trans). The Frontier is a bit "smoother" especially the ride when equiped with the offroad package (I have the TRD). I actually enjoy the "truckier" suspension of the Toyota...but this was a personal preference. For an everyday commuter, the Frontier is better...but that was not what I was looking for.

From a subjective standpoint, I think the Toyota looks much better and from an objective point of view, the Toyota will hold its value much longer.

Go test drive them. I was temtped to go Frontier because of price...but once I drove them and saw them in person, I picked the toyota in a heartbeat.

Edit: My gas mileage was off.

..that's what I hear and aprox.3k cheaper then a similar equiped 4x4 toy. How bout the body. The body seems lighter then other mid sized trucks although that may not be an accurate observation on my part because it's curb weight is about the same as the toyota.

The Frontier is a HEAVY truck. And the curb weight is second only to the Dakota in this class.

Curb weight(all quad cabs w/ 4WD):
4611 - Dakota
4501 - Frontier
4080 - Taco
4062 - Colorado
3672 - Ranger

The Fronteir is based on a shortened Titan frame. It's basically a full size truck that's had a couple inches trimmed here and there. The Dakota is built in the same fasion.

The frame on the Tacoma is a lot more "soft" IMHO than the Frontier. Plus some other areas are flimsy too. The composite bed drops off a lot of weight plus open the tail gate on the Tacoma and then open it on the Frontier. There's about 50 pounds difference right there.

At the time I bought, the only thing the Tacoma had on the Frontier was interior quality and a long bed option. Nissan has evened the field on the long bed issue (but not with Nismo's I think). The interior is still not up to the Toyota standard. That aside though, the ride quality, seat comfort, and just overall "feel" of the Nissan is much better. Another bonus is that the Utilitrack system in the Nissan trucks is an incredible option. Others are trying to mimmic it, but Nissan did it first and still does it better.

.. great info. Does the nissan v6 have chain driven overhead cams or belt driven??

I normally like Japanese cars, but I prefer American trucks like the Ford and Chevy over their over-priced counterparts.

Your beyond retarded. Do you honestly believe Japanese workers make $.90 an hour?

Look at the VIN # of any car after 1982.

The first letter/number of that VIN tells which country most of the vehicle was built in.

1 - United States
2- Canada
3- Mexico
J- Japan
W- Germany

..and I don't know any others.

Have you ever priced comparable domestic trucks? When I bought my Titan it was several thousand less than anything ford offered with the same/similar equipment.

That may be part of it, but I also bet it's because they sell more here than they do there. I could be wrong, but I know America seems to be more fascinated with bigger and better than Japan.

..the new tundra is too big. The 2006 Tundra was just right.

Too big? Butch up there Nancy, its sized just about right. 😉 J/K Anyway, Nissan is coming out with a longer Crew Cab Titan next year with a 7 foot bed, I believe. I barely fit mine in my garage right now with the 5.5 ft bed. I could only imagine not being able to park my truck inside and leave it hanging out the back, like I have seen others do.

That Toyota is definitely a beast though.

As for the Fronty, I have seen on a few Titan boards that folks who bought one after trading in their Titan were disappointed in the MPG the truck was getting. It gets about the same as the Titan, fwiw.

Its still a real nice truck though.

Peace

I get about 18 MPG with a 75/25 City/Highway driving pattern.

Best I've got is 380 miles out of a 17 gallon fillup (22MPG).

This is with the 4WD LE crew cruising at 75+ MPH. The Nismos do worse because of a more aggressive gearing than the LE's.
