Always liked the performance of the STi, but hated the huge spoiler and huge gold brakes.

Didn't the older STi have 300HP? Why does the "special edition" have less HP? Does it have to do with the new SAE HP rating system?

Probably at least that, but at least it doesn't look like a 17 year old's wet dream.
Viper GTS
It's not a lexus. It was born and bred on the rally circuit and should remain there. Huge ass spoiler, big fender flares and huge hood scoop to boot. Let it never forget its roots.

still has the fugly hood scoop
Agreed. A modern compact car just doesn't look good with a hood scoop that sticks out like that. They should take a lesson from ferrari for nicely designed hood scoops.

I like it, I think, but I'd rather buy a Legacy GT Limited and spend the change on making the LGT handle as well as a stock STi, with the same performance too.
Only 800 being produced? Can we say unavailable and dealer markup?

Yeah no kidding... I wouldn't say that Subaru has gotten anything "right" with this car. Why they don't make a coupe STi that doesn't look like ass is beyond me. Don't they know how many of those they'd sell?
A STi coupe would trounce the 350z, S2000, and a whole bunch of other "sports" cars in the same price range.
EDIT: What I mean is that if they made a coupe, they would catch all the buyers who, no matter the performance numbers, don't consider any sedan to be a sports car.
I know the M5 and current STi and Evo go against that, but there's something to be said for a nice 2-seater.
Make 4-door and coupe STi's and Subaru would DOMINATE the under $40k sports car scene.
