Mmmmm I loved the 99-00 Si cause it wasn't a hatch. So awesome that they brought it back, and sedan so you can argue parcticality this time around!

Don't know why they have that ugly wing on the back in the auto show photos, but the pics on Honda's site look very nice.

It looks exactly like the sedan with the Si spoiler. Which doesn't look half bad, but I'm not a fan of the Si spoiler.

The stock sedan has a softer suspension than the stock coupe....I wonder if the Si sedan has softer suspension than the Si coupe?

Absolutely.

The Mazdaspeed3 starts just under $23K. Honda would be wise to price this around $20-21K. Otherwise, your in the territory of a faster, better looking vehicle.

I imagine that's the half of the compromise buyers won't care about...

I wouldn't want to sit in the back seat of any coup. I'm 6'1 and I barly fit in the front seat of my Accord.

Appearance [better looking] is subjective. In my 20's I might have preferred an MS3 (actually I preferred a Charcoal '91 Mustang GT) now in my 30's I prefer the more refined look of the Civic Si Sedan. That is, as far as $20K compact cars go.

No doubt the MS3 would be more fun to drive; but it's also a little more expensive to do so. MazdaSpeed3 = 20/28 mpg vs Civic Si Sedan = 23/32 mpg. For some, that's not enough to sway a decision but for those who were initially sold on the non-Si Sedan and EPA of 30/38 you're already in no-mans-land as far as operating costs go.

Added to Car and Driver's accolades and Consumer Reports year after year reviews and the current backorder for '06 Civic Sedans; Honda won't have to spend too much time counting beans to get it sold.

Same. Instant torque is a lot more fun than having to constantly shift into insanely high rpms in order to get it.

Why do fanboys care about what the redline is while ignoring the important ifgures like horsepower and torque?

"yeah dog it only has 78 hp but it revs to 9,000 rpm!!!!1"

Who's the fanboy raving redlines? 8K is relevant to the Sedan discussion regarding previous Civic Sedan models; but no one's discussing it as a deciding factor. HP and torque aren't being ignored by any means. They are apparently more important than other factors to you though ;).

I'm 6' 4" and fit okay in the front of a Civic coupe or sedan. Back in a Civic coupe isn't bad once you're in there. However the back of a sedan is even worse for headroom, as the sedan isn't much larger than the Coupe.

A high redline = loud as hell = tuner (or perhaps, ricer) crowd loves it.

Hell, I'm 6'2", and I fit just fine in a celica, which is even smaller. The civic coupe isnt any smaller than the sedan, so the back seats are still perfectly usable, unlike some of it's competitors. The back seats of the celica, and many other small coupes, however - nothing but a 10 year old could comfortably sit back there.
