I think it will look better when the the rest of the disguise is removed, especially the hood covering, it makes the front of the car look too bulbous, I don't care for the front bumper either. However, I do think it looks waaaay better than any of the previous spy shots. It's still just a test mule. 🙂

Wonder when the 1 series is coming out. Maybe an M1???

already is, coming to the US I think in late 07

The M1 was going to be BMW's supercar - it failed miserably for reasons not related to the car (Jeremy Clarkson's review said it was a great car).

thought that was the M9?

Theres already an M1 in Europe, so nope no supercar

A traditional six speed manual transmission will be offered as an option.

Excellent, I was afraid they were only going to offer the SMG in the new models.

Front end still looks a bit too Bangle-ish, but its a little meaner than before. I think it could grow on me.

True i reserve judgment until the finished article, but from what i can see now, i don?t like. The shape of the car is all f'ked for one, it looks all out of proportion.

I think its going to be really hard for BMW to top the E46, that was a brilliant shape, especially the M3 model.

And I don?t like the interior that much on the new 3 series either. I?m not a major fan of the ?I drive?.

I'm more of a looks good, powerful car guy.

(that really is my car).

Sweet, my mate has one in Estoril Blue (best BMW colour ever). Also i see you have the 19inch alloys, instead of the standard 18inch alloys, IMO it makes the car look a lot better with the bigger alloys (mostly as they have a slightly different design).

I always see E46 M3's with the 18inch wheel package, and think WTF, why not listen to the sales person and go with the 19inch alloys as you are already spending all that money anyway, and it makes the car look even better.

So they took the front end off a 1997 Pontiac Grand Prix

and the rear end off of a '01 Oldsmobile Alero!!!

Right on BMW!!!

Hahaha. That has got to be the biggest stretch I've ever seen on this forum when talking down about a car.

I know that they often try to conceal test cars... but why does that one look like it's been in a wreck?

Inherent problem with the 19s are twofold... one, the tire choices are not nearly as good as if I had 18s, and the rims weigh a bit more so it's just a bit tougher to track the car. All said and done though, I'm glad I have the 19s 🙂 They are eye-catchers.

They should add a ballistic missile option on the BMWs, since their drivers tend to think they're the Field Generals of the Road.

looks excellent, funny how the hood looks like a mercedes owner had a field day with a sledgehammer....as long as i can get a e46 m3 in a few years i will be grateful!
