just kidding.

no actually, i'm not kidding.

Between a Corolla and VW, if one has to break down, probability says the VW will. 😛

You're an idiot.

VW engines have been top-notch for many, many years. It's their ELECTRICAL problems that leave much to be desired.

Before bashing a car company at least do a little research.

I think that was the most redundant post I've read in a long time.

I'm not at all bashing their engines, where did that come from?

oh man...enough with these comments already. the mk5 jetta might look a bit like the corolla on the outside...but on the inside its a whole different and 10x better car with a much better drive

:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Welcome to the family 🙂

<-- MKIV GTI

Edit: Ignore all the fools with the Corolla comments. They don't know anything about VW aside from the "OMG THEY SUXOR 2 DA MAXOR LOLOLOL" garbage 😀

finally, some support, I was beginning to think my car sucks. I don't know about the old VW, and would probably never own one, but I liked this new one, so took a chance.

It might look a little like a Corolla, but when you compare the standard features on the Jetta, the standard safety features (some not even options on the Corolla) and a much better ride the Jetta is a sweet car. And yes, VW has/had some electrical issues, but there isn't a mfgr out there that hasn't had issues. VW gets a bum wrap in the press a lot of the time.

Too bad for VW really, with each generation they keep trying to overachieve with the interior and jack up the price, while overall quality is down in the tubes. VW's attempt to keep upscaling their brand keeps running into a wall. Premium price needs to mean premium quality as well in the market segment VW wants to be in. Friends that have been financially able to get a VW in the last few years almost universally regret the decision now.

I used to be a huge VW fan, thinking about the VR6 engine swaps, restoring an old G60, I always got the Euro car mags in the mail, GTI poster on that wall... In recent years I have gotten myself a house, wife, baby, cats and dogs, good job. I would always think about the day when I would get a new Golf for the family, now I pretty much flushed that idea down the toilet. I liked VW much better when the cars were more affordable, simple, and reliable.

I don't even know why people compare the MKV Jetta to a Corolla. Sure, they look the same, but they're totally different cars

Better be sure to have a fire extinguisher because my sister's Jetta DIAF. It just caught fire overnight and burnt up.

Anyway, have fun with your car. The interior of the new Jetta is beautiful. I sat in one at the NY Autoshow.

I hope you got a manual btw.

Mazda 3 SP23 Special Edition (HID's, leather, sport package, Sat Nav, etc) > Jetta 2.5. All for $21,729

That being said, found some pics of two Jetta V's parked side by side:

As for the comment about the Corolla interior falling apart? Are you on crack?

It's pretty sad when even the people over at VW Vortex are bashing the MKV:laugh:

in three months, when you need service, post again about the extraordinary help you get from stealership and vw corporate

meh, I think the SP23 is a waste of money. Then again, I could care less for navigation and auto wiper/lights.. I like to do that on my own. I'll used the money on other things for the car 😀

my friends 01 jetta is a POS, her bf's 02 GTI was falling apart too last year.

you bought the car you liked, why are you trying to get an approval from people here for your purchase, if you are happy with your car that is all that matters IMO

I'm talking about the "Car Lounge" people over at VWV, not the kiddies in the MKV forums. We liken the posters in the MKIV/MKV forums to the fools in P&N here 😉

Oh...right......

I'm not a big fan of Jettas. My old roommate from college had one, and was in the auto shop what seemed like once a month. To be fair, the problems started when he got rammed by a drug addict who stole a car, but after the car was "fixed," a whole array of problems started cropping up.

Doesn't look very good at least not to me...and who buys brand new cars anyways? Buy them a year or two old, most the depreciation is gone that way, boneheads.

Without that bonehead buying a new car, you wouldn't be able to get that used car.
