Ok, it's a little loud, but like a roadster? I think not. Mine only got loud when I put on my KDW2's... and those are seeminly notorious for being loud.

3. putting dancing red LEDs on stock radio console is just ghetto and a no-no imho (but u wouldnt get it ... then again u dont like flashy so heres a reason not to get the mazda
Dancing? They move in the direction you change the volume... and it says hello to you, come on (ok, this is only a semi-valid rant.. it cycles on power... not a big deal IMO).

4. the console is all over the place and buttons not intuitively marked ...
???

5. the interior is clean but no where close to umm ... a flashy luxury sophistication ... again since these things dont matter to you ... they wont be an assault on ur sensibilities ...
Eh, clean and simple, this here is subjective.

6. the doors are lightweight .. tin ... i dont think in a side impact they will provide any protection ...
Not anymore than a corolla.

10. the seat controls are awkward
How so? You have have height on the driver, front bar for sliding forward and back.. and tilt... how is this different from any non-power adjusting seats? Placement of these items are the same for almost every vehicle I've sat in.

17. the 3 ringed instrument cluster is FLASHY .. and so are the dancing red lights and ALL for SHOW

What is it w/ you and the red lights on the dash? it is one bar of lights. They do not "dance." How is the cluster "flashy?" It's very sleek.. not flat and bland. But I can't say much, it is a subjective matter.

All in all.. most of your complaints stem from the fact it was a rental. I auto-x my car... trust me, the brakes are great (albeit they suffer from brake fade).

Anyway, back to the OP.. if resale value is important to you, Honda is the only way to go. While I love my car, I don't know if mazda can hold it's value. Currently, it sure as hell seems like it because it's so damn popular. But the 3 is a hell of a lot more fun to drive 🙂

So once again, I'm pitting two cars against each other and asking for your input. I have realized that there is no point in spending a lot of money on luxury cars. It is all for show and I don't like flashy things

first of all - these two are not in the same class

second - you sir have no clue about finer things in life ... that quote is stunningly stupid ...

thrid - i am driving a rental mazda 3 2005 with 10k miles on it - and here is my review - keep in mind this is a rental so prolly has been treated like a whore and only based on this one particular rental -

1. the car is certainly zippy - i for one was surprised to see a steptronic like transmission
2. the cabin noise is LOUD ... comparable to a roadster .. so that should tell you something ... (again this depends a lot on tires too...but still)
3. putting dancing red LEDs on stock radio console is just ghetto and a no-no imho (but u wouldnt get it ... then again u dont like flashy so heres a reason not to get the mazda

6. the doors are lightweight .. tin ... i dont think in a side impact they will provide any protection ...
7. the dash and center console has the pixelated characters but the clock has standard digital calculator style digits ... again something that wudnt matter to you
8. the fabric is pretty rough - again wont matter to you
9. the rear view mirror in the cabin was unstable - a bump wud move it around ...
10. the seat controls are awkward
11. the dome lights have a plasticky chromy reflector - somehting that u wud find in a toy at dollar store
12. back to drive qualities ... the steering response is not tight (then again this is relative)
13. more lurchy than a 1999 ford escort on an downhill s-ramp
14. the engine light icon comes and goes (this is rental tho..)
15. the steering has vibrations at 65+
16. braking is pretty good but not solid and confidence inspiring
17. the 3 ringed instrument cluster is FLASHY .. and so are the dancing red lights and ALL for SHOW

and thats after 2 days of driving ... i might call enterprise and switch to something else .. that engine icon doesnt seem like a good sign ....
btw ... how about taking art appreication 101 or something ... and DE at any porsche / bmw / audi club ...

out of the two .. honda ...

LOL, using a rental car to judge a vehicle. That's great 😀

That like paying for a night with a hooker so that you can describe what's it's like to have a relationship with a woman.

but domestic bashers dont get that, if they rent a domestic car and that is a POS all domestic cars are POS
😀

o yea, btw, Mazda 6 FTW

What he said, the Mazda 6 kicks ass

I considered buying a Mazda6 last year. But, I found it on Consumer Reports' "used cars to avoid" list, so I passed. I think the '03 and '04 models were on there.

lol that's funny.

I vote for the Accord.

Bump.

I can get a almost loaded Mazda3 sedan while a third to base Accord model starts at around $23,400 or so. The almost fully loaded Mazda3 is around $20,700 or so, almost $21,000.

So, at this point, I'm leaning towards the Mazda3. Plus, its a bit more exciting. I love Honda and I have always wanted a brand new Honda, I think at this moment, the Mazda3 is a better value.

I just hope what dandruff said earlier is not true to all Mazda3s. About the shaky feeling and the overall flakiness about the car. I want something that feels solid when sitting inside, yet doesn't feel mushy at all. Basically, one that feels just right and makes you feel energetic. I love sitting inside of my friends Honda coupe.

I hope the Mazda3 is the same way. Yes, I will go very soon and test drive one myself. Just as soon as I find some time ...

Thanks for your time.

You will probably love the Mazda3 because the feeling of driving it is one of the best things about it, and most Mazdas these days.

if you do decide to get an accord , wait a 3-4 weeks and wait for toyota to have a full marketing blitz for the new camry.

you should be able to get the accord for under invoice

Exactly. Accord is blah to drive. Mazdas are a hoot.

Cause I'm an old guy I'd get the accord
If you spend a lot of time behind the wheel, like you said, the more quiet and comfortable the ride the better. I did test drive a 3 hatch it was OK but for long hrs in a car I'd be more comfortable in an Accord.

What is odd is that I'm a young guy, agewise anyway, and I love sitting inside the Accord. I think it has one of the best driver seats. The driving position is excellent. The car is comfortable yet communicates the road to you. It feels like you are actually driving the car, which is something I want. The V6 models are very sporty, very fast acceleration. And the interior is the best in its class.

The Mazda3 is a nice car, and if I were to buy one, I would buy the hatchback because its more unique and looks cool. The ride is comfy too inside the Mazda3.

I want the Accord.

Don't get me wrong of midsize sedans and I've drove a bunch the Accord is the best 'driver' of the bunch, Malibu ,Camry, the 6, haven't drove a Fusion yet but its a 6
Its not an old persons car just that I'm aging and I prefer quieter interior noise and automatics and smoooooth over manuals road noise and engine buzz.
I commute about 45 miles a day and when I'm tired I don't need a fight in the car.
