Man, I'm so fvcking fed up with what passes for "large & roomy" these days. I swear to God, I'm going back to the real deal again someday...

Holy Sh!t, those are land yachts on wheels. And the fuel economy has to be terrible too.

Probably may be of interest to my dad . . he likes dependable cars that aren't too expensive . . .

As for my mom . . . well, she's the exact opposite, lol

Are you like 7' tall and 300 lbs or something? Even your average fatass American can fit in an Avalon or Grand Marquis.

Notice how large houses have been getting over the years? People just aren't satisfied with the 1,200sf bungalows of the '50s. Yet, we're no bigger than we were then. Families are the same size or smaller, yet we want larger homes... why?

Why have these econo cars been getting larger and larger every decade? Why are SUVs more popular every year? And, the bigger the better lately.

I can't stand being hemmed in by a console, let alone the already smaller seating dimensions. When you're watching movies in your home theater, would you rather be in a bucket seat, or an overstuffed recliner? Why? Comfort is comfort, whether you're in your living room, or on the road. We're not talking sports cars here, we're talking room & comfort, which is sorely lacking these days...

People don't buy SUV's b/c they can't fit into cars. They buy them b/c they think that they are safe in them and want to be "high up" above traffic among other things.

wait, so what you're saying is that you'd prefer a car with a front bench seat that reclines, and optional seat belts? :p

Speaking of answers to questions!
  • Families are the same size or smaller, yet we want larger homes... why?
  • Why have these econo cars been getting larger and larger every decade?
  • Why are SUVs more popular every year?
Trying to adjust to today's diminutive offerings, after growing up with decent size cars, is maddening. Even the average family sedan was roomier than today's luxury cars. And, people weighed less back then. It's today's mega fat citizens who NEED the roomier cars!

All I can say is, I've been spoiled, and you just wouldn't understand. It's like being yanked from your current home, and stuffed into a trailer or apartment instead. Ugh... :disgust:

The all-new $34,629 2005 Toyota Avalon XLS full-size sedan I recently tested had a roomy, attractive interior and a powerful engine, but several quality defects -- including a dial that fell out and left a hole in the dashboard -- leave it trailing the competition.

At that price I'd probably get an Acura TL.
