Let us know, as Charlotte's forecast is snow and ice. :/

Anyone from Greenville/Anderson, SC area to report on how it's up there?

Icy icy icy in greenville... A lot of dumb drivers in their SUVs driving around spinning all over the place...

Yep. They think because they have a 4x4 they can drive in that mess, only to find out someone from emergency management (who has to bail them out) not pleased they were on the road. Takes more than all wheel traction to drive on ice -- and few Southerners have the experience to do so.

It gets so bad on the snow days here EM strongly suggest to leave the roads to EMTs/police/fire departments.

Power, check.
Water, check.
Heat, check.
Food, check.
Intarweb, check.
ATOT and WOW, double check.

We're still 100% here. :D

My parents are driving back from below Savanah so pray for them though.

About up to the fall line it's okay (mostly water on the roads here), but as soon as they hit above I-20 they'll going to face the slush. Wish that a safe trip.

Break out the hot chocolate everyone, it's going to be a long day!

Northwest of Atlanta, in Kennesaw...my neighborhood is completely iced over. My house is at the top of a hill (downhill in both directions)...earlier there was a pile of 5 neighborhood cars at the bottom of one side, the folks tried to go out for whatever reason and ended up sliding down the hill. The great thing is that there is another incline at the bottom before you can turn to leave. Both sides are iced, so these people were basically stuck...someone eventually went down with some sand and a shovel and cleared the smaller incline so people could leave.

Me? I am sitting inside all weekend with the heater and fireplace running..Nice and cozy.

About 50 miles North of Atlanta here on lovely Lake Lanier...

We got about 3/4 inch or so (pic) of pure ice. It created a pretty landscape, as you can see here on our dogwood tree. One of the more interesting effects is shown here on the hammock.

The kids were disappointed that the lake didn't freeze over. Not quite slick enough on the streets and driveways to do any hardcore sledding either.

In Durham, NC and it's started to sleet. Just small little hailstone like things no bigger than 1/8" is falling now. About the size of nerds rock candy is what it looks like. Oh well, I'll try to hang on and keep posting while i can. Probably will lose power.

Auburn, AL...the freezing rain has changed to just rain. I think it's supposed to get pretty cold again tonight so we'll see.

The weather's clear here in SE Va. No sign of the storm yet. But we're supposed to get some rain later today. Supposedly. My car is filthy and the rain would be welcome. :p

lololol

It might be scrubbed clean then. ;)

Icicles have melted from the sides of the house (had some 6 inch ones), but on anything metal outside they're still sticking. Every tree and shrub looks like it was dipped in water and frozen. The street and driveways have a shiny appearance, along with puddles of water.

It's all going to freeze over tonight. :( Brrrrrrrrrrr.......

It's been pretty frigid here for the past week or so. Temps down into the teens and such. My poor furnace is just not rated for this. My house is sooo chilly, but I suppose my computers are enjoying the weather. :)

Alpharetta, GA here....Northern suburbs of Atlanta.

Since I couldn't go anywhere today with the ice, I finished up a new install of Gentoo Linux, 64-bit and have been playing/tweaking it all day :D

I'm perfectly willing to stay off the roads to stay away from all the idiots in their SUV's that think they can still drive on ice. I have lived up in NY, and the drivers here suck big time!

Me, I spent the day cooking up a big pot of beef stew and biscuits, swimming in onion gravy.

Ah, but they can survive in that SUV without air conditioning when it's 90+F, though (a summer survival skill here). ;)
