2005 Southeast Icestorm

Was wondering how other Southerners are fairing in this godawful icestorm. Will anyone in it's path report how it's going on in your neck of the woods (power outages; road closures in your area, etc)?

Being that the last storm knocked out power for days here, and worse in Atlanta, be good that folks check in (especially network types working the graveyard shift).

Went outside and the sky looked like when Hurricane Jeanne came through.

Was wondering, since my sister called from work, as her co-workers are wondering if they can get home before the ice covered the roads. Some have a 30 mile drive ahead of them.

Augusta -- 150 miles east of Atlanta. It's the largest city in this area, so workers commute here to work, and some have a long drive home (and usually not on nice asphalt or concrete).

I thought I saw about everything in weather forecasting, but "unknown precip" takes the cake!!

Guess it would be unknown, considering it isn't ice, it isn't snow, it's a watery ice blades. :gross:

Don't worry, it'll be over by tomorrow afternoon once the warm front moves north (a little chilly here in FL, but it'll be 70 on Sunday ).

It isn't bad in Alabama, only a few icy spots. A lot of my GA coworkers aren't here today though.

Saw a clip off the Weather channel of the icy slush outside Hartsfield. Don't blame you for staying put. Knowing how people drive along 285, it would be suicidal. :/

Icy icy icy in greenville... A lot of dumb drivers in their SUVs driving around spinning all over the place...

Powder with an ice under coat. looks pretty but probably not too fun to drive in.

Power, check.
Water, check.
Heat, check.
Food, check.
Intarweb, check.
ATOT and WOW, double check.

We're still 100% here.

My parents are driving back from below Savanah so pray for them though.
