I have trouble with its solid rear axle. WTF is up with Ford producing a new car with a solid rear axle?

This is the 21th century, not 1964!

Works good on the track...no wheel hop upon launch. The Cobra will have IRS. Wish they did make IRS an option on the GT model...supposedly adds only $500 to the price :(

Hey, as long as we're talking about this anyway, does anyone know if the in-grill lights on the gt are removable in some way? I LOVE the car, except for those...I think they make it look like a$$.

I'm sure it is, supposedly the V6 model does not have these and you can probably buy the grille to swap into the GT. Just ask the dealer what the part number is.

I read on a Mustang Forum that the grills between the V6 and GT are not interchangable without modification because the mounting clips are not in the same location. Give the aftermarket a few months and you'll see something without the fogs. I like the fogs - they make the retro look complete. I'll check if the are removable.

The V6 and GT have different 5-speed manual tranny' s too. The GT also adds aluminum driveshaft, traction control, standard ABS, pan-hard rod...by the time you spend all the $ for the supercharger and such, it would have been cheaper to get a base GT model.

The rebadged Holden Monaro is one of the most nondescript cars there is, and it's not a true GTO. All you asshats who want to crap on the Mustang, why don't you STFU? I'm sure the OP doesn't give a sh1t about your lamer preferences.

It's hard. Eventually you'll settle down. I was this way for an RX8 for about three days after driving one. I knew I couldn't afford it then, although if I wanted to I could have squeezed into one. After a few days my love finally petered down a bit.

Basically every year around the turn of the year I get a new car itch. Generally I just hold tight until it goes away.

Mustang GT is nice though :)

Your rabid Nissan fanboism would cripple you before you signed any papers on a Mazda. I can see it now :

Why don't you STFU? A mustang is the epitome in nondescript cars. Everyone and their mother eventually has one.

Also, when the original GTO came out it was considered nondescript. Pontiac is simply living up to that.

This thread isn't meant to be about the ugly, nondescript GTO, but rather about the Mustang. Everyone who insists on bringing up this ugly rebadged Holden is disrespecting the OP. Is that plain enough for you to understand?

Also, the new Mustang is not nondescript; the last version was, though. If you think the 2005 Mustang won't stand out in a crowd, you're much mistaken. I'll never own one-- if I were to buy an American sportscar I'd probably look at a Corvette (or a Viper if I could afford one). However, the retro styling of the new Mustang is very welcome indeed; I'll enjoy looking at them on the road. Of course, that's all beside the point, thread crapper.

Edit: "Epitome in"? I hope that college education includes a few English classes.

There already are.

I think the interior looks really crappy on these new Mustangs. The seating materials are cheap, there isn't much bolstering and the dash materials look cheap.

I agree. I also would've liked to see more horsepower in the stock GT for that much money.

Well, I hope I can get one next year. I'll cry when the Cobras come out.

Buy a classic stang or something.
Or umm..learn to be fiscally responsible and live with what you have.

I own a camry and I have to admit a lot of times I consider cheating on her with a hot new sports car but then financial reality hits back at me lol. Err...and my undying love for my Camry.

Oooh I just remembered the cure for wanting this car, and it's quite hilarious:
Go here
There's a ton of "performance" videos on the high bandwidth version.

But the most hilarious is the Handling video. Click it. Observe the mad handling skillz of the Mustang. Then think to yourself that they filmed that crap at like 10MPH, and that that tire sound effect was dubbed anyway (it is, as with most sound effects for tires in any car ad, INCLUDING that 300z in prague one, because I know the guy who dubbed it =p).

Laugh your butt off at the mustang's mad handling skillz.

So yeah basically the theme of the Handling video is that the mustang can turn around a corner and skid out...at 10mph. Woohooo mad handling skillz.

The 2005 mustangs are sweet. I agree though.... wait for next year's Model..... Better yet, wait for the 2006 Cobra.... Very nice.

Dont' waste your money buying a V6 mustang and adding on performance parts.... if you going to get a Mustang, get a GT or Cobra. There is no excuse for owning a V6.
Where else can you get a 300 horsepower car, stock, for around $25,000.
It's good power for the price.

I hope to have a 2005 soon...... I'm a big Mustang fan... I have already owned 2 Mustangs..... I hope to make it 3.
