The only thing I dont like about that stang is that little window in the back. Looks like crap and they should replace it with that vent thing from the oldies.

That style burnout doesn't really prove anything.. I want to see him at a light, rev it to 6k and dump the clutch on a green light.

And I feel bad for that car. Yes the car is made for sh!t like that, but not brand spankin' new like that.

Most burnouts dont prove anything. Almost any car can do a burnout.

that is a NEW car. it probably hasn't even been broken in yet.
Sure, and most likely it's still the dealerships car they are using for a exhibition/show/meeting whatever to show off the new mustangs. It's a write off.

Well genious, there certainly isnt anything positive about doing that other than it being done to a Ford.
Spell things right when you try to be insulting. Though I agree about the Ford part. ;)

That's exactly what I said in my first post.

Apparantly not. Lets see how many people chime in about how that burnout is going to destroy the car.

Break it in hard, make more power. :)

I know that last post wasnt meant to prove you wrong I was agreeing with what you said earlier about the style proving nothing.

They're supposed to be rolling into the dealerships all this month, with models at all dealerships nationwide by early next month.
I'm very excited. I haven't seen one in person yet, and I never jump on a new car or buy one in the first year, but this could very well be my next car. So beautiful in the pics. And the performance numbers thus far are VERY impressive.

In my day we called that a brake stand. Guys a dumb ass for doing it in the middle of a crowd if you ask me. Nice burnout though.

Do you think it was a manual tranny? He could have easily been "power braking" it to create the burnouts with an automatic.

I remember back in the day, my did a neutral drop with my '70 Chevy and I broke the yoke where the drive shaft connects to the rear axle. :(

Actually, I saw a site (obviously not linked from ATOT) that a guy argued that high RPM hard use (in his case, dyno pulls) on a brand new engine breaks-in the engine much better than your typical break-in.

We'll see how my friends 2004 RSX Type-S (with it's lack of low rpm grunt :p) holds up :D

What are the performance numbers, all ive seen is 0-60 in 5 secs, what about 1/4 mile times?

The reviews are starting to trickle in,

MotorTrend reports for the GT 5-speed Automatic: 0-60 5.1 secs, 1/4 mile at 13.6 secs @ 99.9 mph

Motor Week recently aired this week and reported GT 5-spd manual: 0-60 5.0 secs, no 1/4 time :(

Like I keep saying, if it wasn't for the fact that I'm in the market to buy, (what I consider to be a) long range cruising powerboat.... I'd buy one of these in an instant :)

Not when your riding the brakes. Once the tires get hot they slip very easily as they are "burning rubber."

Burnouts in general don't impress me. Acceleration does however impresses me.

I used to do burnouts like that with my old 1984 GT mustang 5 speed. Except I didnt ride the brakes I just let em spin till they finally got good traction again when we got moving. I did it just for fun, was a 20 year old with a half way fast car.

Don't get me wrong I really like the new mustang, but the burnout is just messin' around IMO and doesn't impress me on its own.

I JUST read that article! Gears one two and three are very good for 0-60 times but gears 4-5 are so out of proportion (read overdrive) that it hurts the 1/4 times quite badly. Not sure why they didn't get a manual but it should certainly be under 5 seconds 0-60 and around 12.9 1/4 (IMHO anyway).
