Edit: Then again my pictures are gone!!...oh well.

Uhhh, that's the regular SLK.

This is an article on the SLK55 which was just unveiled today😛

The other pictures that are gone had the AMG. (Same pics as in that article but larger)

Ill see if I can find them again when I get home and post them here.

I think I like the new interior design. Not quite as retro as the old one, though. Exterior is hideous.

Boxster > Z4 > SLK...as always!

YEP!! 🙂

And for once, Mercedes is copying Lexus design instead of the other way around😉

They replaced the V6 with a V8 and only added 6 hp and ~ 40 lbs-ft torque? Wouldn't the V8 (albeit NA) be heavier than the V6+supercharger combo, nevermind less fuel-efficient (not that the buyer's concerned with that anyway...) And performance seems to be the same as the older car...except they don't say what tranny was in the older car with the 4.8s 0-60 (I'm guessing its a 6spd manual.)

02?

Dont you mean that hideous Lexus Roadster looks too much like the SLK....not exactly an original design on Lexus' part. But thats to be expected from a Toyota company.

Does "Formula 1 inspired lines" have to mean "the nose looks like @$$"???

Yeah, definitely got fuglier... even though the SLK was the original... the Lexus' ugly headlamps have influenced Merc again. yuk!
I wonder if the V8 replacement was just purely for emissions? Or mebbe reliability?

It doesn't seem like much of a step up in power at all... all the mercs have been autos. I don't recall a single manual in their lineup other than mebbe one for the C-crap coupe.

Uhh...the SC430 looks NOTHING like the current SLK (which has been around for about 6 years or so) and was a pretty much original design when it came out. The current SC430 came out BEFORE this new '05 SLK. The SLK looks like the SC430.

Take a look at the SC430 and the SLK55 from the same angle:

SLK -- SC430
At least the rear overhang of the SLK is not comically huge and disproportionate like the SC's. The front overhang is also shorter and less bulbous on the SLK. The roofline is obviously quite similar. The SLK also lacks the ugly character line that runs from headlight to taillight on the SC that adds to the "droopy" effect of the rear end. I like the proportions of the SLK much more than the SC.

Also, the taillights and rear fascia of the SLK look much better than the SC's wacky boat-inspired design. There are definitely a lot of similarities, but even with the ugly nose I think the SLK looks much better than the SC overall, not that I like either one that much.
