Are they running out of ideas? The fron-end is Liberty clone, the rest is the old GC with few minor alterations.

Begining to look more and more like a Chrysler Pacifica.

I think it's based directly on the new Durango. It looks hideous. I'm losing faith in ALL American manufacturers. I can't remember the last American car that had the same amazing look as the Mazda 3 or the sharpness of the RX-8. :|

It shares nothing but the engine with the Durango. This is going to the first Jeep since the Jeepster, I beleive, which will not be tested on the Rubicon. :(

Here are some pics from the 99 Grand Cherokee redesign.

Even the Liberty made it through!

Looks like a 3-year old SUV with a 'cherokee style' grill thrown on the front. Must've taken them forever to think this one up

Looks pretty much the same to me but a few more angles, (Not that looks matter in real 4x4's and trucks) but it looks like there is somthing in teh front end ready to get torn off on the trail :Q

I saw one of the prototypes rolling around Farmington Hills, MI, and from what I could see (it was mostly covered up) it seemed to be a pretty nice looking car. Maybe the pictures dont do it justice?

I just leased an '04 and I like it's design. This does look vaguely like the Pacifica. I hated the Durango based on the pics posted by NSF4 at first, but the more I see them on the road, the more they grow on me, so maybe the pics don't do it justice.

I disagree, there have been some nice American designs lately.

#1 - very striking in person. Overpriced IMO but it looks good.
Coming soon:

There are other more mainstream vehicles (like the Chevy Cobalt coupe, Pontiac G6, Dodge Magnum etc.) that look a lot better than those they are replacing as well.

So does that mean it's not going to be *GASP* Trail Rated?

Sorry...I think the trailed rated commercials are one of the worst marketing gimmicks short of the Hemi buzzword.

well, trail rated to fix the fact that Germany no longer wanted to test on the Rubicon. What you are seeing as trail rated used to be called Rubicon rated, though they didn't market that to anyone but the offroad community. After pulling out of the Rubicon, there was a backlash and trail rated showed up.
