2005 Honda TRX450R (ATV) $5000 OTD

I was looking for a used sport quad when I happened to run across a deal, Honda is blowing out new 2005's at a great deal, the original price was around $6500 plus TTLF&P but I found 2 out of 5 dealers that would do it for $5000 OTD (actually one would go $4850 but he was 180 mi away).

This is a sport/race quad and the 2006/2007 are better quads but the 07's are $6749 + TTLF&P

Honda ATV's

YMMV

Where do I find anything on the site that refers to this "deal". I am not really interested in hunting around to maybe find something like you got. Would like to find something on the website that gets the conversation going at the "deal" level. The "deals" portion of the site only has lease deals.

Is this dead?

No it shouldn't be dead.

Western Honda in Phoenix Az, has an ad running in the cycle trader for $4299 to tax and fees so I called and got an OTD price of $5k I then went to my local dealer and asked them if they could match that price and they located them in a warehouse (in Cali?) in about 5 minutes and it was a done deal.

When you call make sure that your talking with someone that has a clue like a sales manager , senior salesman or owner because most salesman have no clue that they can get these bikes. The salesman I spoke with at my local dealer said "nope can't get them, I haven't seen on in about a year" so I told him that all it would take a phone call to locate but it can be done. Same thing when I called a dealer in Tucson.

I kind of miss my old ATV. It was a 1986 Honda Fourtrax TRX250R. Fully stock (down to the knobbies), I was hanging with modified Suzuki Quadracers (pipe, paddle tires) up competition hill at Buttercup (sand dunes in CA, near Yuma). Wonder why Honda no longer makes 2 stroke sport ATVs? Those were fun.

Does any of the big four stll make a fullsize two stroke sport ATV?

They stopped making them because of emissions(?).

I had a 400EX and it was every bit as fun as my Banshee, the 250R was ahead of it's time they definatley don't build them like they use to.....

real men "do it" on three

ATC 250R

Never had a 250r, but I have ridden one. I still hang on to my old Yamaha trike. the best wheelie machine ever

My brother had the 250R. I had a 250X and then a 300EX.
The 250R was the best 4wheeler ever made.

The banshee was fast to, but it was a yamaha and it always seemed the hondas held up better.
The Quadzilla was pretty cool to, my family owned a suzuki dealership for many years so we had most everything at one time or another due to trades ect.

Dunno, the Honda probably had better handling but that Yamaha could sure haul some booty when it got on the pipe.

OMG, that beast will put hair on your chest even if you don't have any! Hmmm, guess he chose the Quadzilla motor for the low end tractability (he mentioned adjusting it for woods), but if I were to make an ultimate dune machine I'd probably start with a CR500R motor in a custom frame. Actually, I've read about those (and may have seen in person).

The 1986 ATC 250R was my dream trike, with the 1986 Kawasaki Tecate a runner up. I almost scored a Tecate, but my dad wanted a quad. Our fastest 3-wheeler was an ATC 200X. Side wheelies FTW!

That's quite possible. That's actually the only quad I've ridden, but I've read that the handling characteristics were the best out of all the performance models. I know that the guy I sold it to replaced his Banshee with it.

pretty sure yamaha still sells the 2 stroke banshi. barely modified from its original design back in 87 or when ever it was first made. I have my 85 250R three wheeler in my garage. cant wait to go and drag some cooler rack. 🙂 most 2 strokes have stopped selling due to emissions threats. sanme with personal watercraft.

i had an 86 honda 250r trike, that thing was great, also had an 86 250r suzuki, it was fun too, i loved riding when i was younger, i hope my son enjoys this stuff, that way i can buy one when he gets older, I bought him two 70cc quads, he enjoys them, i hope when he gets older we can ride together.
