Suprised nobody has mentioned it yet.
Main 3 parties are Labour (left-leaning, except on the war), Liberal Democrats (slightly more left-leaning), and the Conservatives (right wing)

also, a map of the 2001 election. Notice it's sort of like in the US, where Labour (Dems) tend to win in the cities and Conservatives (Reps) in the country. Personally, I would support the Lib Dems except Labour are more likely to win, with the Lib Dems not having won an election since 1920 or something. Labour, of course, are Blair's party which is currently in power having won in 2001. The election is probably in May.

well he hasn't won yet, but the problem is the only party with a chance to unseat him are the conservatives so in a way he's not so bad, though hopefully he'll be replaced within his own party by Gordon Brown (the chancellor) who had nothing to do with the war.

Most likely scenario IMO. The same thing happened to Chretien here. No one could beat him, but a year into his 3rd term he suddenly became a pariah in his own party.

Some of the latest UK polls show almost equal numbers between the LibDems and the Tories, not far behind B-liar. The Tories are a joke, I truly hope the LibDems make some gains. At least their collective consciousness is still alive. Did you see the demo in Trafalgar Square? I was in London a few months ago, the area around the Houses of Parliament is always busy with demonstrators, slogans and insults at the ruling idiots.

Found an interesting poll.

Conservative 35%
Labour 36%
Liberal Democrat 21%

If Labour were to win the next election, do you expect taxes will rise thereafter, fall or will they remain at about the same level as now?
Rise 59%
Remain the same 33%

Probe by how much in percentage terms do you expect them to rise/fall?
Rise by 6-10% 9%
Rise by 1-5% 26%
Remain the same 33%

Which of the following statements do you think could be applied to the Prime Minister, Tony Blair?
Arrogant 50%
Likeable 49%
Caring 42%
In touch with people like me 30%
Trustworthy 30%

So, percieved as an arrogant tax hiker...BUT he helped with the unilateral invasion.
I wonder if the neocons would support Blair if they lived there...

I hope Labour wins just b/c that's Tony Blair's party. I like the guy, and don't want him to be out of power (it's in the USA's best interests). If I lived in Britain, I'd vote for the conservative party.

Well, Blair IS a left-wing pm, but he joined the invasion for whatever reason. His party are like the US Dems, but he is from the right of the party. the Conservatives are like the Republicans. The polls now put Labour ahead since a Conservative MP admitted that they planned to cut spending a lot more than they say publicly (the hospitals and railways have been under invested for years, public spending cuts are NOT popular in britain at the moment)

AFAIK, Blair's policies towards the US are refered to as "poodleism" by many poeple over there. You know, the belief that what's best for Britain is doing whatever the US tells them to. Can't say I blame them...
