2005-2006 $50K Sport Sedans From Japan Comparison Test @ Edmunds

for that kind of money I simply can not fathom getting an asian car even if they come with free blowjobs at the dealer

what's wrong with an asian car for that kind of money? I bet it last longer than German cars.

what if it were free lifetime bj's from their hot daughters?

The last Lexus GS was a huge flop. I see maybe one or two a month. Sure Consumer Reports and Edmunds and whatever else liked it, but few people bought it over BMW 5-series cars.

The new one doesn't look a whole lot better.

Don't you drive a V6 mustang?

They should rename it:
" 2005-2006 $50K Luxury Sedans From Japan Comparison Test," because it seems like they were evaluating these cars based on luxury much more so than sportiness.
IIt's totally unfair to Infiniti that they chose the M45 Sport, which trades ride comfort for sportiness, and then they bash it for having a hard ride. Well if they put ride comfort over handling, they should have chosen the non-sport model. So Infiniti is getting punished for its sportiness in a sports sedan comparison.

It's the same thing they did with 350Z. They chose the Track model, and then bashed it for hard highway ride. Duh!
Obviously it's optimized for the Track if it's the track model. If they wanted a highway tourer, they should have chosen the touring model, which is also available.

I didnt' read the article yet so if this is redundant, sorry.

If this is a Luxury test, they shouldn't compare 'Sport' models of anything. And in this case, I would assume the Lexus would win anyway, if it didn't I would be VERY surprised.

If it was a Luxo-Sport Sedan test, I would pick the M45 to be teh winner.

I would expect different results from C&D.

edit: read the Edmund's article...they couldn't stop praising the M45, they said it had teh best handling, best engine, best transmission; yet they placed it last because it was noisy (which would come down to the 19inch sporty tires) and teh ride was harsher compartively (due to sport suspension). Neither of these is really a loss to the prospective buyers of the M45 Sport. If they wanted quiet, they would get the non-Sport model.

so they let the lexus come in first because of the "better detailed interior", and overlooking the 40 extra horses in the M45? and the RL with a V6 comes in second? last time i checked acura's interior is not really so nice that it'd win over a V8.

and?

what are you getting from cars like that?

1) A lot of bells and whistles you don't need
2) ... back seats?

not worth 50 grand at all.... toyota camry V6 does the same thing, Legacy does the same thing better

As I said over at TCL:

It's not like Edmunds can say give me this or give me that. Most of the time, these magazines have to take what the manufacturers give them. They can't always get EXACTLY what they want to test, they have to test whatever is given to them.

That's why the GS they tested was $60,000. I seriously doubt that Edmunds said to Lexus "Give me the most expensive GS you have"

I totally agree. Notice that the Infiniti got a lowball 33% "recommended" rating in the scoring which pushed it into third place. I have no clue why they'd use the $3,000 more expensive Sport model with 19" wheels and a stiffer suspension... and then knock it for tire noise and "crashing over large road irregularities". Buyers looking for refinement, which is one of the recurring themes of this comparo, would not opt for the M45 Sport model. The Lexus and Acura are both excellent cars, but Edmund's should have made it a level playing field.

I always assumed that they tell teh manufacturer exactly what they want, and they get it?

either way, none of the cars in teh review were said to be bad, and they all offered strong points. The Infiniti was teh sportiest of them all, the LExus was the luxerious of them all, and the Acura offered a bit of both, a compromise you could say.

Not bad at all, in my opinion. They are great cars and the differences between them (whihc led to different positions in the ranking) are all subjective (personal preferences).

And a Civic Si would probably be faster than your Mustang, more reliable, more economical, have better resale in the end and doesn't look like a fleet car.

So what's your point? If you have money, you buy fancy sh!t. If I'm making $200,000 a year, I'm not going to be driving a flippin' Camry or Accord.

If you've read a lot of comparison tests over the years, you'll hear the same complaints from reviewers:

() We wanted this, but all that they could provide us was one press car with 9,000 miles on it and rattles galore
() We had a cap of $30,000, but X company sent us a model loaded pushing it to $37,000
() We wanted to test out Z option on X car, but none was available in time for printing...

This is what happens all the time.
