The fit and finish on this car is suppose to be outstanding, not to mention 350 bhp, 365 ft-lb and a Z06 6 spd!! Watch for the first televisions to air tonight during Monday Night Football.

I dunno about the fit & finish. C&D had a ton of problems (and not just small ones) with their week long test drive of theirs. :(

That was pre-production. Look at the new MT with their PRODUCTION review.. they praise the fit and finish, calling it the best from GM ever (or one of them), and mention there was not a squeak or rattle to be heard.

Sweet. I'll be heading to my local pontiac dealer in a few weeks to test drive one of those :D

I doubt it, I think most if not all of them are already spoken for.

But I can't believe Chevy let pontiac have the FULL corvette motor. Heck Chevy would not let the F-Bodies have the FULL Ls1 Corvette motor. I think the f-bodies got a 225 version of the 350hp corvette motor. But I can wait to see what ti will do. :)

Naw, they got a 320hp "rated" version of the motor. But anyone who knows FBods knows that many of them actually dynoed near that much hp to the wheels. They were severely underrated cars horsepower wise.

Nissan 350Z
Evo

There are already reports of preproduction GTOs running 13.6 @ 105mph. I think this car offers a hell of a lot of performance for the $$.

That straightline performance I don't doubt at all... but the Evo and STi both run mid 13s as well. And I highly doubt a stock GTO can keep up with an Evo in the turns. Then again, it takes a friggin Enzo to do that. Not to mention the Evo and STi are a few grand cheaper... and you can do a whole lot to both with just a few grand. Pruven Performance did 12.59 @ 107.69mph with a 1.72 60ft with just an FMIC, axel back exhaust, Manual Boost controller, fuel management, upgraded fuel reg., test pipe.

But I think low 13s and if driven right with some minor mods the GTO is an easy 13flat. If some stock Vettes can be ripped into high12s with just some awesome driving... I don't the the GTO is far off.

I just wish it didn't have that friggin kidney grille.

And "...modified knee bolsters" equals widers seats for the American fatass? :D

I'm not going to bother debating modified times. You can get a Evo for maybe 29k, an STI for 31... they're in the same general price range. But instead of getting a souped up econobox, you get a full featured car that hauls freaking balls. As for the fat americans thing, yeah, the fat ones ruin it for the rest of us :( :|

I have no doubt that an Evo or STI could take it in the corners, the GTO is far more of a cruiser than they are. However, its not going to be lax either....

I love it - except it looks HORRIBLE in light colors :disgust: It should only come in red, black, dark blue, and maybe a dark maroon ;)

DANG! I did remember the GTO/Monaro was heavy... just didn't realize quite how much!
I guess that's why you don't see any Commodores coming overseas... no doubt, I'd get one as a daily beater/cruiser. The Evo/STi aren't really too liveable... but then a used Audi S4 is just within reach...

:) actually all the car makers have been taking that into account, with ever wider seats etc, i saw an article on it a while back:)

nice engine, but ultra bland sheetmetal is for saturns.

I think it looks good and I hope it does well.

I'd take an STi over it in a heartbeat tho. :)

Heh........I've got an Impulse Blue GTO with 6 speed and blue interior on order. My Black 2000 S4 will be available shortly after it arrives. :D

Awesome. If I was to actually buy one, that's the exact combo I'd go for as well.

Thanks, it's nearly the color combo that I really wanted when I originally ordered my S4 (nogaro blue with blue alcantara seat inserts/interior trim). But since my wife had removed and hidden my sack, I relented and got the basic black model.

In any event, I find myself giddy with anticipation just like I felt after I ordered the Audi----HURRY UP ALREADY!!!!!!!! I'm hoping to seperate myself from the Audi before I have to put on the snow tires........cuz I'm gonna have to do that once already with the GTO (here's to hoping my winter rims fit the GTO).

wow!!! the evo will smoke it!!

Not when I'm done with my mods....... ;)

Probably the one thing I'm really gonna miss about the Audi: Easy and plentiful mods (only the stealthy kind though--wings and cladding? Bleh!!). The APR chip was the most impressive price/performance ratio goodie ever crafted for probably any car ever made.

its LS1 powered i would assume lots of mods readily available... the LS1 is pretty damn tunable. no LT1, but, not much else is, 'cept the 302

I remember seing this car before, in New Zealand.. Lots of holden cars running around there.

I think it looks great, most likely targeting people who can spend 30-50K for a car.. Hence it's not too riced up..
