2004 Nissan Quest: An extreme Mom-mobile makeover

They need to drop the center mounted guage pod - IT SUCKS. ALL CENTER MOUNTED GUAGE PODS SUCK!!!!!!! :frown:

Overall, I liek it 🙂

thats weird and the man who invented center mounted gauges needs to be shot! :|

The red interior will not be there for the production model. The only thing I really dislike is the dash layout/design. It's too artsy fartsy.

anybody notice how the rear-end of the car sags a bit? I guess they are designing these cars to look like their target demographic 🙂😉

The interior looks like what they put in concept cars. I never thought I would see that actually make production.

Bizzare. :Q

The only thing I don't really like about it are the center mounted gauges.. Who wants to look right to be able to read them?

I suppose you would get used to it pretty fast though.

The exterior looks better than most minivans. The interior looks very strange, although it IS unique and it sounds like they wanted something "edgy". The fit & finish sounds like it was not superb, although this was probably a pre-production vehicle.

Anyways, I doubt I'll be driving a minivan anytime soon. 😛

Seems rather expensive. Is high $20s the going rate for small minivans nowadays?

Also, being that I like American cars too, I checked out the two reviews for the new Grand Prix. Surprisingly positive 😛

That is not a small minivan. That is a LARGE minivan. Hehe, the Chrysler minivans could be considered "small" now b/c the Odyssey, '04 Sienna and '04 Quest are all larger than them.

It's a definite improvement over the current Quest...but if I were to buy a minivan, I'd still prefer the Odyssey or the new Sienna.

Cool...plenty of choices when the lease on our Chrysler Voyager is up. The Sienna, Odyssey and Quest seems like great choices...the determining factor will be how much they're willing to negotiate on the price. 🙂

I don't think the interior is as bad as you guys make it seem.
Just the placement of the gauges is in a horrible location.
And the shifter looks like you have to reach pretty far in order to grab hold of it, which isn't too big of a deal since it's an auto.

But the 240 hp is a welcome upgrade over our '94 with 150 hp :|

The exterior sure looks better than the new Sienna. Especially the front... the Sienna's front is fugly.

But, but... it's a Nissan :Q

i got a great idea, lets make it so the driver has to look away from the road to see the spedometer rather than just catching it under their primary feild of view

They did put the Murano interior into production . . .

Also--I didn't know the Quest had grown up. My mother's Quest from a few years back was rather small.

Wow...with all this outcry over center mounted gauges, I wonder why manufactures continue to use them. Sure, it makes switching from a left hand drive to right hand drive easier, but that seems like a poor reason to use them.

After reading MT's writeup about the new Scion xA, I really think it might make a good "grad school" car (considering I always said I'd ditch the oldsmobile after college and grad school is looking to be another 4 years or so to get my PhD). $13,000 for a car with Toyota build quality and great mileage? Sign me up! Oh wait, center mounted gauges. I find it distracting enough when I glance over at my car stereo to see what song is playing, it's only MAYBE 6 inches lower than a center mounted gauge stack would be.

I'll still test drive one. But the gauge pod may be the deal breaker.
