so is audi still a vw. or jaguar still a ford. and while i'm at it, is mercedes now still a chrysler especially with cars like the chrysler crossfire (chryslker version of the slk320). etc.
.

And a BMW is still a.... Ultimate Driving Machine. A Maserati is still... 😉

The interior quality of the japenese cars is just awful. It's plasticy crap. Go sit in a Volvo or BMW, see how everything is wrapped in leather, and the doors have padded leather on them... That's luxury.
Go see the new TL, you fumduck. It's interior quality surpasses most european cars.
It may be nice, but it's still a Honda.

Thank for proving that you are actually a tool.

Thanks for proving that you know jack about cars. Comparing a FWD V6 pretender to a RWD V8 king. You can shove the interior.

thats the all mighty badge whore thing for bmw, since they dont have a "regular" brand.

Acura IS a honda, in japan they dont have the acura brand.. its just a gimmick for us marketing..

audi and vw are two totally different cars...

a TL is basically an accord with more luxury things (wood panels) and bigger engine

rather than being a gimmik, i think it was a way to get around the import quotas.

if you have a second company, then you can import twice as many cars into the states, so while building a brand image, they found a way to get around importing restriction. there is no lexus in japan either, along w/ infinity and our fav topic of discussion of the moment: acura.

as for vw audi, i dun really know much about it, but it seems more like the gm arrangement, cars maybe built on a same platform, but will be marketed to different segments via brands. like how pontiac is one step up from chevys, leading all the way upto caddys.

as a bmw owner, i voted for the g35. if yer comparing 325 vs g35. it really depends on your taste, if speed is your thing, are you still reading this?? go out and get a g35. if you want the complete driving experience sans the nice boost in power, 325 the car for you. g35 is a freakin rocket, with some luxury components to it, sure the interior is a bit.. erm cheap, but how else do you make a sweet entry luxury ride for under 30k? no one said it was perfect.

as for the bimmers, there is a reason why they commend a premium while still not standardizing leather, it's a freakin 1450 option on a 30k+ ride! and the motto for bmw is the ultimate driving machine, not the fasted to 60mile mark machine. complete driving experience makes bimmers commend their premium price. altho w/ the 325, it's for those "trying to look rich" bah whatever!! anyway, the specs for the 325 sort of take the car out of the g35's perf class.

if you read any perf reviews, the editors are partial, very partial to the price advantage the g35 brings to the table. and seems every verdict that goes for g35 or even those that puts g35 right behind 330i comes w/ a caveat while bmw is a better driving machine, it is hard to over look the price advantage first place of this camparo goes to g35, or despite being handicapped by the price disadvantage bmw still is the king of the hill. g35 is prob the best attempt at shooting down the bimmer and i give props to them, even if i like 330i pp better than it ^^ yea for a cool 10k more.. 🙁

agreed..

bmw handling > g35

The only BMWs that outhandle G35s have an //M or a Z in their names.

g35 just doesnt have that "feel"...

anyone who say's it doesnt have as much class as a bmw is full of sh!t

I'll say it, and I'm not full of sh!t. It will take more than something like the G to transcend BMW as the epitome of class. You can't shake off a stigma lasting decades with one successful platform.

So, if BMW came out one day in introduced a new car--- a total sh1tbox---, would you still say it has 'class' simply becuase it has the BMW logo on the front and decades of class behind it?

In the past, infinities might not have been the most luxuriest cars around-- what does that have to do with anything? That doesnt change the fact that the G35 is a very refined car, that is on par with any 3 series bmw. If BMW had the G35 idea first, and was able to produce it, (no design changes) they'd probably charge 50k for it a peice, and it would probably be called one of the best cars around. (and you'd probably love it too)

just my opinion though---

i think what he means is that when the average consumer thinks of class and refinement, they think of a bmw. thats a stigma thats associated with that name. its gonna take a while and lot more up-to-par and above-par cars on infinity's part before the average consumer starts relating refinement and class with an infinity. and also, if bmw comes out with a crap car (1 series) its only gonna help infinity on its way to the top

the thing is, only thing the g35 and the 325 have in common is the fact that they belong in a similar price class. that's it.

i just went to bmwusa.com and price out a decked out 325i w/ nav leather and everything for a hair under 40k. g35 w/ similar options is cheaper, and performs much better. and besides, why would any company have a comparison on their site saying someone else's product is better than theirs?

Most of the cars ive owned have been mostly BMW's and I personally love them. However, in this case id say go with the G35. The 325i is the cheapest of BMW's line-up, overpriced, has low-performance and doesn't really impress me at all. The G35 is 10k cheaper, just as fast if not faster, and has all the same luxury features the BMW has. Go with the G35 for sure!

Mature men drive BMW 540i and M5. 3 serie is for kids. Mature kids drive BMW 330 and M3. Other BMW are not worth mentioned except for the new 6 serie. So if you cannot afford an 540i, M5 , 330 nor M3, go with the G35 coupe.

by mature, if you mean having money oozing out, yer right 😉

rich snobby hs kids drive a 325 their parents bought them or m3 that they bought them.

young professionals that roll in 50k+ in most cities get a 330i or maybe, just maybe an m3. professionals in the valley get at least a 540i or m5s since regular bimmers us mortals drive just is too passe.. or something.
i still remember some kid from the valley saying "yea, i see bimmers everywhere, they are common" plz come back to real america who ever you were.

Did you drive the coupe? I tested a 330ci and a 330iPP before I got my car (still drive my friend's 330iPP regularly in fact) and the G is flatter in the curves and more communicative through the chassis and the steering. Puts up much better slalom/skidpad numbers as well (better than the Z in fact). The 330 has a softer ride though.
