alright NFS4, i been on this site for awhile now and im gonna finally pitch in here on some of my information because all i see you do is talk like you pretend to know about cars buddy. Now, lets begin to set some facts straight:

1. "Yawn! Gimme a loaded Mini Cooper S for $24,000 The damn thing has a V6 and still can't outrun a Mini, SVT Focus, or SE-R...let alone a Neon SRT-4 "

The GTI is a VR6 not a "V6" that means theres only 15 degrees of seperation between the cylinders instead of a full 90 degrees in a standard "V6".

2. "I think you're getting this confused with the $30,000 3.2 liter 240 HP 20th anniversary Golf. "

There is no "240HP 20th anniversary Golf". You've just basically managed to tie in 3 cars into one sentence. There is an upcoming R32 with a 3.2L V6 with 240 bhp. There is also a 20th anniversary edition GTI powered by a 1.8T engine with a 6spd transmission. And LASTLY there is the Golf, dont get it confused with a GTI please because although they may share the same platform, they sure as heck dont share the same powerplants.

3. "The Mini starts at about $16,000 and goes to about $24,000 fully loaded. It will out accelerate and outhandle a pudgy GTI. Not to mention that the Mini has more standard ammenities and safety features."

Hah, laff. I dont know if you're typing this from bizzarro world or something, but the last time I checked, a fully loaded GTI VR6 was only 21k out the dealership. As for the handling and acceleration "awe" of the Mini, dont kid yourself buddy, the powerband of the Mini kicks in at around 4000rpm, all the while the GTI VR6 makes full power at 3000 rpm. If you know anything about cars, that 1000rpm makes a world of difference.

Now that should make you think twice to mouth off by copying and pasting stats again man. Lesson of the day, mag racing is a no-no. So dont sit around the computer all day comparing stats on edmudns which will get you nowhere. You want to sound like you know your stuff, go out and drive these cars for yourself. Now step off NFS4, theres a new kid in town. And at least I have the real world knowledge of driving these cars.

Didn't see the rear legroom stats! Doh! 2 inches is quite a bit though. Anyhoo...I like the mini, but for the money, the GTi is just a much smarter move IMHO. It might be a few clicks slower, but it's larger, more easily serviced, has better standard features, and has a lot of low end grunt for easy driving.

I haven't driven the 6 speed, so I don't know how well it works, but I only needed two gears in 5 speed. 2nd gear would move you from a stop to 65MPH, and third gear would take you from 65 all the way up to 110MPH, pulling hard all the way. Just an incredibly fun, and easy car to drive. Didn't have to shift it often as it had a near flat torque curve.

This crap about certain makes being more gay than others has got to end. Why can't you fcking grow up NFS4? The one car out of VWs line that I wouldn't be caught dead in is a Beetle, but the rest of only called homosexual because too many girls think Jettas are "so cute". And a Mini is tiny ass get-caught-under-the-back-of-an-suv car. The SVT Focus, is a Focus; enough said. The Neon SRT-4 is still a Neon trying to be an all out sports car. \

You can have your loaded Mini Cooper S, but if you thing the Golf is any more homosexual than the Mini (IMO, no car is gay but thing what you want), you have problems.

Either grow some balls or stop taking things so seriously. It was only a friggin' joke. I learned not to take many comments seriously on this board a LONG time ago. Besides, Lance Armstrong does advertising for Subaru. He's far from being a lesbian, but Subaru's have that label attached to them after a "certain" commercial aired a few years ago.

If you want to bitch about labels being attached to cars, feel free to express yourself here:

POLL: Wussiest car for a man to drive

You are telling me to grow some balls. Wow, thats hilarious. Hold on...I have to laugh..not done yet....oh man. How is it a joke when you say this "Well, only a homo would get caught driving a New Beetle or Cabriolet. Jetta is at least bi. Golf is borderline bi. Subarus with the expection of the WRX series are for lesbians " And Ive seen that thread, read enough of it too. I wouldn'tve taking things seriously if you hadn't tried to compare the GTI to a fcking mini cooper or either of those other whiny four bangers. I mean, honestly, who would say "yawn, gimme a loaded mini cooper for 24k"...ughh. And you're right maybe I shouldn lighten up, but thats a hard thing to do when people do label cars. It really is. I can take a litte, but that thread...god. People need to grow up, and get balls in the process instead of trying to make themselves feel better by saying car is meant for homos or girls.

Wow your a dick.

(1) The only thing you can get me on is the R32 which I clearly goofed on.

(2) The Mini will consistently rip 0-60 times of 6.9 seconds despite it lack of torque minimalistic power band. Don't sit there and tell me that the GTI is going to outhandle the Mini either.

(3) VR6's and V6's are different "technically" for sure, but please tell me how the cylinders are arranged? In as "S" or maybe a "B" or is it a "V"? 😛

IIRC, the "W"12 is made by mounting to VR6 engines together. V +V = W

Actually, just looking over at Edmunds, the high demand of the Mini makes it MORE expensive than the GTi's going rate....by like $5 😛

DUDE, I'll GIVE you $5 😀

😉

Seriously though, Edmunds says a TMV (with options) of $22,793 for the VR6 and $22,875 for the Cooper S

Im just saying that I frequent Auto-X's on a monthly basis and the Mini's in the stock class and the handling isnt nearly as great as you portray it to be. Granted, the GTI VR6 is quite a dog in its stock form as well. The Mini-S may consistently pull 6.9's however a stock GTI 24v VR6 can definitely pull 6.7's on a 0-60. How do I know this? I've done this enough times at the track to know it. If you want timeslips, I would gladly oblige.

Come on man, if you're a true enthusiast you would know that details are everything. If you said "Hey guys, I love the VR6 in the Mustang 5.0L" in a room of pony enthusiasts, I'm sure they'd take you real seriously.

Hey man, Im not saying the MINI-S is a bad car, but hell man, dont dog on the GTI either, I just wanted to disprove some of your incorrect facts. Happy driving.

There is a big difference between calling a VR6 a V6 and calling a V8 a VR6. For starters, correct # of cylinders vs incorrect #. Its a much bigger goof than not putting the 'R' in "VR"

I don't see where he's claiming that 99 were imported into the US. If you'd take a look at his profile it says:

City: São Paulo, Brazil

Faster... not nearly as much improvement for the $$ as with the 1.8T GTI. Turbo'ed cars are generally superior when it comes to bang-for-buck modification for power. The 1.8T will make more power easily... chip, boost up, race gas, mebbe some hard pipes, and some bigger injectors and bada bing... tire-roasting power unknown to most VR6s.

7.7second 0-60 is dirt slow... what did they do? Launch the car like cheerleaders throw footballs?

DOH!

Regardless... finding a mini dealer that won't bend you over is next to impossible.
The markups on those little heaping piles is insane

I just priced out a mini on their web site, fully loaded it was OVER $27,000!!!!

Dude, you have no idea what you are talking about. You are posting just to get a rise out of people just for fun.

Maybe I'll waste a bit more time once you really understand what it is you are talking about.

VW underrates their cars, big time. Not to mention those times are with granny shifts and probably with asr on.

Don't believe me, look here. That's a fully stock 1.8t AWP Jetta. 165 at the wheels equates (depending apon how you measure it) 190 - 195 at the crank.

You know what's funny, this dude is such and idiot, he missed out on VW's top 2 contenders... the WRX and the RSX Type S.

Oh wait, his magazine probably didn't say anything about those two cars.😀

When you pick every option (the the mini has tonnes of them) yes, the price does get high. Hell, whne you pick every option on the VW you get $25,365. Who fvcking cares about the price when you've added ever option to make the car expensive.

Not everyone buys a car just to "have the car."

Many of us buy cars for it's features and options. If you are going to compare the two cars, at least get the facts straight. I price em out how I'd buy em, then make the decision.

Don't get me wrong here, I love the cooper s. Nice and fast and great looking. I've often thought about trading my car in for it.

But I walked out of the dealer with my car for $21k. If I were looking to spend 27K, I'd be looking at the 350z or maybe even the new STi.

Needforspeed4 hasn't a clue about these cars. Look at his comments about the new neon. He said a loaded Mini cooper s. His facts are wrong. My pricing wasn't even with every option. Only the options I wanted. Blah blah blah. Ignorance is bliss.
