2003 NCAA Tournament: Predictions?

I am going to guess Kentucky, Arizona for 2 of the final 4 spots. Then I have to pick Florida (and I really feel they could if they all click and play their roles). For the fourth, I'm not sure who is going to step up. I guess it depends on the bracketing, but I would say probably Texas, Kansas, or Oklahoma. ESPN is saying Kentucky, Arizona, Texas, Louisville as their top picks, but I am not big on Louisville. I don't think they have the schedule strength to correspond to their ranking.

Not only do they not have the schedule strength, but after their LUCKY 17 game winning streak (which everyone praised even though they only played 1 or 2 worthy opponents), they've lost 3 of their last 4. What does that say? I think it proves what I've said all along. Even with their record, they don't deserve to be as high as they are ranked. Maybe around 10, but not 3rd or 4th.

If Kentucky keeps up their play, which we'll find out today when they play Miss St, they'll go far in the tournament. Arizona is a great team this year, though, and it'll be good to see how everything pans out.

EDIT: Just an added note about the remaining schedule of Kentucky. They play Miss St, ranked 19th, today at 2pm. This is a home game for UK. Then they play Tennessee, a home game. They aren't ranked, but have arguably the best player in the SEC, Slay. UT also beat Florida a couple weeks ago, UF ranked 3rd or 4th at the time. Then they play Georgia at Georgia. That'll be a tough game, as Georgia is ranked 22nd. After a quick stint with Vanderbilt, it's off to Gainseville to play Florida again in their arena.

So we'll see how these last 2 weeks pan out.

This year the tourney's going to be so hard to predict. Just about anyone in the top 20 can take it all. Except Duke. 🙂
 
If Wake keeps up playing well and having fun, we could go all the way.

The best thing about us finishing 1st in the ACC would be Duke and Maryland having to beat up each other to get to us in the tourney. 🙂

Texas would be my third final 4 team, and I think a surprise team will be the 4th one, like Uconn, Maryland, or Marquette...also, don't forget about Pitt...
 
I haven't been able to say this in years, but today I will: Syracuse has got a chance! If Anthony, Warrick and McNamerra are on, they can hang with anyone. If they play someone with a dominate center, they may be in trouble though. Hopefully win the big east tourney, grab a #2 or 3 seed or so will get them into the elite 8 and hope for the best from there.

On a side note, does anyone know where any of the regional games will be played? I know the F4 is in New Orleans this year, but I wonder if any of the regionals are around me.

NCAA Tournament schedule

IMO, there are a number of teams that could win it all this year. I think it may be a team that has played solid basketball all year, but have floated around in the top 25.....for example: UConn, Oklahoma St, Notre Dame, Georgia. I don't think there is one team in the country that is untouchable, so this year's tournament should be a good one.

I want Maryland to take it all again, but I think Arizona has the best chance.

Never say never.....there were those that said SU wouldn't beat Georgia and Kansas in 96.....
