2003 Mustang GT vs. 2003 G35 [Now with a polling booth]

The mustang is a convertible with about 33K miles on it. Asking price is 15K. The G35 has about 38K miles and is being quoted for 18.5K. Which one is the better option?

The one you like the best.

Seriously...

Both are fine cars with pluses and minuses that you will have to weigh yourself to decide which you like better.

I love Mustangs but I'd take the G. The GT only had 260hp in the 03 incarnation, not to mention the extra weight from it being a convertible.

Indeed. The only reasons to go with that Mustang :

(1)- You prefer the styling to the G35 (unlikely)

(2)- You're planning on serious performance upgrades, as the Mustang is really easy to add a ton of power to, and the 3.5, while a great motor, is a lot more expensive to upgrade, as well as notoriously touchy with SC/TC upgrades (lot of blown motors out there from guys who took 350Z to FI)

I'd go with the G35 as a daily driver. I wouldn't want to deal with a convertible every day. I like Mustangs, but a convertible as a daily driver is not worth the effort. Maybe get a coupe and a nice big LCD TV. 😉

What pluses does the Mustang have over the G35? It doesn't have more muscle, and that's the only thing at which the Mustang excels, so the game is over right there.

Besides, have you ever been in a Ford convertible? The chassis has more twists, squirms, groans, and shudders than a bad porno.

1. It's a convertible. Some people prefer them. Given the choice I will always take a 'vert over a hard top.

2. Mods/Upgrades are cheap and can net huge gains. The Mustang can "bulk up" on muscle for a fraction of what it would cost to upgrade the G35. If you are the type of person that is into modding a car the Mustang is a "better" choice for most people.

3. Depending on where you live a domestic can have more curb appeal than an import.

Both cars sell well and are loved by the people that own them. So I think either is a good choice depending on the taste of the buyer.

What are yiou looking for in a car? handling, performance, looks, reliability, economical?

Sex? Cuz the G-35 is sexy. Now the Mustang has the retro look and that isn't bad either, but the G is just classier.

I've had sex in a '79 Mustang....

I recommend something with a little more room 😀

Until you get inside and drive it....

Test driving a G35 was the biggest mistake Ive ever made. I used to think they were incredible as well, now I know they have a crappy interior, crappy dash, crappy transmission and are no where near as quick as they should be.

The 2003 Mustang Cobra was trounced by the G35 and then RX8 in 2003 in C&D's review.

Both are incredibly different cars though.
