2003 Honda Accord

Howdy,
Anyone seen pics of the new 2003 Honda Accord? Thusfar have seen only artist renditions. Have read about ETA at dealers from spring 2002 to fall 2002, so who knows when it will actually show up.

Any info or links are welcome.

Thanks,
PCM

Seeing that so little info has been released so far, and it's almost spring, I doubt it'll be out anytime before fall 2002.

You're probably right, hopefully they'll use the next few months wisely and continually tweak this car. Wonder if the Accord will beat the Camry again this year in sales?

Honda almost always introduces all-new designs right at the normal model year end, so I'll bet that it won't be until fall.

Yo,
Finally found alleged pics of the 2003 Honda Accord Couple online:

What I want to know is if they'll offer AWD/4WD, like the VW Passat 4 Motion or the Audio A4 Quattro.

AWD? I'm inclined to doubt it, since it is not offered on the Camry or Altima, Accord's most direct competitors.

Thanks for the link.

Those are the first pics I've seen too, although I guess you'd have to take them with a grain of salt. The backgrounds have obviously been photoshopped in. Still, given the overall design trends of Honda over the last few years that looks about what I was expecting visually. I still think the 2003 Mazda 6 will be hard pressed to be beat in the looks department. I'm not sure what they'll be offering engine-wise. I was originally leaning towards either the 4 cylinder Altima or the new Mazda 6 when they came out. Now I've about decided to just save $5,000+ and get a 2000 or 2001 Maxima since I probably won't be buying until early next year. I'm assuming the new Accords will be great cars as always.

The front looks kinda like a Prelude crossed with an RSX.

<< I heard the Accord is going to have a 6 speed box and 260HP >>

That isn't happening...and if it did, the car would cost almost $30K.

Those pics are not reliable...they've been around awhile and have been dubbed photoshopped estimations of the real thing.

It reminds me of the Focus's front.

I've read in Edmunds that the success of the Altima/Camry coupled with the Accord's double digit sales dive has prompted Honda to move the introduction date to August 2002.

In the May 2002 issue of Motor Trend, there's some sketches on the new Accord (Motor Trend is usually pretty accurate with the sketches). It looks very European....like a BMW/Audi and is very swoopy. The interior with be benchmarked with VW/Audi quality. No wonder a high level Honda exec promised this Accord to be the most radical yet. The Accord's 200hp V6 will be carried over but the base Accord will get a version of the CRV's 160hp engine. I read from Edmunds message boards that there may be an Accord Type R.

If those sketches are correct, Honda is gonna have another big winner on it's hands. Nobody will be calling it boring anymore.

Yeah, why lose the MPG war just to get a few HP on Nissan? Honda has been the MPG king since the original CVCC was imported here. I'd be disappointed if they broke that tradition.

Nissan can't touch Honda in sales - why would Honda go and drop a 260 HP V6 into the Accord? As long as it's on par or near that of the Camry they could care less about Nissan. (With the exception of maybe in Japan) It would be nice if they had an option for an Accord Type-R or something of a "Super Accord" but not as their mainstream 6 in the Accord.
