Damn, just looking at my latest issue of Motor Trend. If the Sedan is that fast with a 5-speed auto, imagine the 2-door with a 6-speed manual:Q

holy sh*t :Q:Q:D:D

That almost matches the altima's stick times.

For the nissan boys, I think c&d tested a sedan V6 auto altima and it got 7 flat for the same run. :p

240 HP @ 6250 RPM
212 lb-ft @ 5000 RPM

0-60, 6.53 secs
1/4 mile, 14.98 secs @ 94.95 MPH

No gear ratios, but:

Axle/final-drive ratios, 4.43:1 / 2.30:1

FOR COMPARISON

Altima 3.5SE manual

0-60, 6.3 secs
1/4 mile, 14.7 secs @ 96.8 MPH

Altima 3.5 SE auto
0-60, 6.6 secs
1/4 mile, 15.0 secs @ 93.8 MPH

That's pretty impressive actually. I wanna see someone replicate that on a production model sans braketorquing.
Also, I would be concerned about the 5 speed auto given Acura CL's record with these trannies. Not sure if it's same unit.
I do think that Nissan is long overdue for a 5 speed auto in FWD. The G35 has one in RWD, just need to make it fit transversely. The current Nissan 4 speed is not particularly smooth.
Actually I hope Nissan Murano CVT will be available instead of the Auto in the near future. Then I would skip the stickshift.
Anyways, even if true, Nissan has so much upside on the VQ35DE, they will have no problem keeping the performance crown, knowing how the Z has 290 HP out of the same engine. I think Honda will have a very hard time squeezing those numbers out of a 3L without forced induction.
It's good that Alty has competition though, because it will force Nissan to improve the interior and tune the engine for higher performance.

how can 0-60 be slower in MPH? 60mph is 60mph... you are thinking of the 1/4mile

Hmm, wasn't Motortrend the same people who managed to get 5.9s to 60mph on the Altima? MT seems to be well known on having awesome numbers on their tests which not a lot of people can manage to duplicate.

Nope, that was Autoweek.

Motor Trend got 6.28 seconds with their Altima.

WHOAH!! I just read the Coupe sidebar and they say that it is 100 lbs lighter than the Sedan and will likely dip into the 5's :Q:Q:Q

I think he was referring to a faster 0-60, but slower top speed.
