Torquey? More like wimpy. Only has 212 lb-ft of torque @ 5,000 RPM compared to 240 lb-ft @ 3,600 RPM and 246 lb-ft @ 4,400 for the Camry SE V6 and Altima 3.5SE V6 respectively. They also make their torque at much lower reves than the peaky Honda engine.

I swear NFS, you're the biggest freaking magazine racer I've ever ran across. You really need to stop taking manufacturer specs at face value because they're wrong half the time.

accord v6 6 speed dyno

It makes 195 torque at the wheels and the torque curve is flat enough to shoot pool on.

so you proved that NSF4 was wrong about the peaky but isn't 195 less than 212 or did was my public school education that bad?

It doesn't make its peak horsepower until 6,250 RPM
Altima makes its peak horsepower at 5,800 RPM
Camry SE makes its peak horsepower at 5,600 RPM

Like I said, Hondas typically make their max power higher up in the rev band.

195 is on the high side when you consider drivetrain loss. There's no such thing as a transmission with just 8% loss going through it.

i just know in general, all the hondas i've driven have been lower torque than their comparative nissan or toyota counterpart.

Well, the first Honda to EVER have more torque than HP was the '02 CRV.

Yes, but some of us prefer to have a back seat and a trunk larger than a shoebox for our $26,000. ;)

Yeah, where do you propose I stow my member in a 350 ... :)

Edit:

And I'm talking about a loaded Accord ... you can squeeze out a low end for 20ish I think ...

If I were pricing a Z I'd be 32k+

I would say the feel is actually comparable to the last gen accord V6's...

Actually that feeling is right. People on accord forums are reporting the I4 is real close to the old V6 in terms of performance. The previous gen accord V6 was kind of a joke though. The first gen accord v6 was just pathetic.

The 5 spd auto really helped too... I was cruising on the highway at 100km/h, and the tach was only a little above 1k.... very quiet and smooth...

I like the coupe more than the sedan. Either way, they're a good value as always, and I see them mentioned quite often in YACTs.

Because they're fvcking Accords.

Accords = boring, except to rice-heads.

No, no ... Accord is for mid-30's former ricers who still want to tap the jailbait ditzy ricer ho's but have to get a larger sedan-style car for their wife & kids.

Civic is for ricers.

That being said, I certainly wouldn't immediately toss the V6 6-speed coupe out of the options list.

Not to burst your bubble but a stock maxima can do 14.3 1/4 and there are slips to prove it

maxima shares the same engine as a g35/350z ...

Looks like a Mercedes on the outside kind of. If I was in this market I would concider getting a 2004 Maxima. Why? Both cars look like eggs, but I think Maxima has always been better than an Accord. Check up on the new Maxima if you like the styling of an Accord you'll like the egg shaped styling of the Maxima.

None of it's competitors have as nice of an interior (well, maybe the Passat is a little better), every review and my first hand experience from driving one says that the interior quality is leaps and bounds over it's competition.

Not to burst your bubble, but not every Maxima is going to achieve that. Each vehicle performs a little differently from the factory, sometime you'll get a Max that can hit that number, sometime you won't. The same with the accord. Arguing over a few tenths of a second only prove your inferiority complex. In essence, the Accord and Maxima are equal in performance.

Also, provide some slips if you're going to make such a vauge statement.

I think the new Maxima's interior is on par with the Accord's quality-wise. I do think the Accord's is better looking, though.
Additionally, price-wise the Accord competes more directly with the Altima at this point which definitely has an inferior interior. :p

MAYBE the maxima has a comparable interior, but the interiors of Mazda 6 and Altima are just not comparable to the Accord's...

you got it, 2/10s of a second is easily the difference in altitude/temp/conditions. I've seen the same exact car at a drag strip drop more time than that simply because as it passed from afternoon to night, temps fell.

^ Yep, the Accord's interior has always been of the best quality among it's performers
