well there is a company that advertises in the Dupont Registry that (for a LOT of $$!) will take your Z06 for a few weeks and return it as a convertible. :D

Wow, I'm skimming through this article - very nice indeed. It's too bad the Viper is being upped to 500HP, or else it'd have a decent run for it's money :D Nonetheless, at the price that you'll be able to get one of these for, you can't really ask for much more :)

yeah, the new viper isn't the best looking viper ever but man will it be a fast mofo.

chevy's already said they won't get into a hp battle with dodge, the vette is aimed at a slightly different audience. the Z06 is a race car thoroughbred with luxury creature comforts as well.

Oh my lord...

405 horse power, and the corvette actually handles to.

It's not like we are talking about a solid axle mustang, a Vette can actually corner :p
NICE CAR!

On Track racing actually that 500HP should help give the Z06 the run for it's money.. The Viper has the straight but the Track belongs to Z06

damn damn damn! Lot's of effort going into this engine:

<< The one at center right is the exhaust valve and its cavity is filled with the Sodium-Potassium compound >>

<< it?s got the highest valve lift of any camshaft ever installed in a production small-block V8, Generation I, II or III. >>

<< "We?ve had over a dozen customers with complaint vehicles," John Juriga stated. "We put these rings in and it?s a ?clean kill.? It takes customers who are aggressive drivers and who had oil consumption as low as 500-800 miles per quart up to 1500-2000 miles a quart. >>

Go Chebby :Q I'm impressed

For about $2000 you can have a IRS stang.

well no matter how many cars Chevy tends to screw up, they always pull a better and better corvette from under their sleeves

The Cobra started in 99 and there is also aftermarket kits from a few companies that run about $2000 and you can hit the track with those. The people who have em say it's a dream on the track in comparison to the stock solids.

I think the Cobra's are IRS.

but I hear it causes them bad wheel hop problems on 1/4mile launches.. but for the road coarse its a great improvement I'm sure

also.. with all the talk of how crappy the build quality of GM cars are, well they seem to do something right in Bowling Green at least..

<< Message from Dave Hill to Corvetteforum Members:

"I want to express to you how proud I am that the 2001 Chevrolet Corvette is the Premium Sports Car segment quality winner in the J.D. Powers' and Associates Initial Quality Study. In the premium sports car segment, the Chevrolet Corvette was rated more trouble free than the Honda S2000, Porsche Boxster, Mercedes Benz SLK, BMW Z3, Audi TT and Porsche 911. This quality study is considered the automobile industry benchmark of quality for new vehicles.

When you are in Bowling Green, KY, I hope you will express your appreciation to all the men and women at the Bowling Green Assembly plant for their dedication to Corvette excellence."

I'm surprised they pay so much attention to customers - that's great. I have a reinforced sense of respect for the Vette due to this. I'm glad they made it Coupe only. A Coupe form says "all out effort for performance", a convert says "I'd rather have the wind in my hair than save a couple hundred pounds" :p It's uncompromising - a big plus in my book

yeah, the C4 vettes used to have dash plaques with hp and torque ratings.

I think that new Z06 badge is sweet!

but if I had one, I'd have to get an aftermarket one with "Z06 - 550 hp" after I got done modding it up! :Q

Corvette engineers routinely call up regular new Corvette buyers and ask them how they like the car, what would they change, etc.

I read the book "All Corvettes are Red" , behind the scenes in the internal politics of GM and the development of the C5, and it details how customer input on the Corvette is of such importance
