The FAA has their certification program currently available for pilots to carry guns, but I'd wager doughnuts-to-dollars, that right after 9/11, most pilots carried their guns. I think 90% of US commercial pilots are former military, so they really don't need any stinkin' FAA certification to know how to use a gun... I think that was covered in Basic.

Edit: It's called the, Federal Flight Deck Officer Program, and it was not in place in 2002, but I'd guess if the pilots thought their lives were at stake, they might overlook a small rule like that.

Cool, I didn't know that. Btw, you dont learn how to shoot a handgun in basic though. Being an MP, of course I'm military qualified, but most soldiers are not.

My discontent with W's statement, is due to the fact that he actually spoke to the public concerning a "plan" that makes as much sense as building a bridge to Hawaii from California...
