I am looking for a used car. I have driven a 2001 OZ Rally model before from a friend, and it was really nice. This 2002 model is from craigslist here: http://seattle.craigslist.org/see/cto/837457256.html

This is a clean and well maintained Mitsubitsi OZ rally Edition Lancer- 77000 miles, with power locks, windows, and includes very comfotable fabric interior. The interior is in perfect shape and has been thoroughly detailed inside and out about twice a month because I work at a dealership and detail. This car has been through maintenance and regularly serviced the way a very appericiated car should, shifts smoothly and never been in any accident. Add-ons include pretty new tires, intake system with air flow sensor, with stock airfiler included. Others- has tinted windows, working ac/heater, cup holders for all passengers, CD player, am fm radio. This car is in exellent condition and always cared for extremely, starts like brand new, runs as new, you will not be wasting your time to check out this vehicle. The spec Lancer shares its chassis structure with its competitor cousin, the Evolution. But the Lancer Evo's high-output turbocharged engine doesn't exactly make emissions-control happy, so this a 2.0-liter, about a 150-horsepower engine does keep the price very reasonable, and it's still enough for the spirited performance demanded by budget-minded shoppers, while providing the good fuel economy demanded by most other small sedan buyers, i have had roughly 32 mpg and gas to fill up all the way from gas light is just about 36 dollars with gas price at $4.07. Interestingly, the Lancer O.Z not only got admiring looks from young enthusiasts (indicating that Mitsubishi is right on target with its styling) but from my 90-year old neighbor as well. "What is that cute little car? I like it," she said. I would love to hear from anyone with questions for info or any angle pics of the car always can accept calls 24/7 dont be shy.
It seems $9000 is a bit steep, but I am not sure if the listing has anything justifiable for that $9000 price. The kbb is about 1K more than the rest for each condition. I am not sure why such large differences. Zip code 98133. What's a reasonable bargaining price?

KBB private party value
Excellent: $7,615
Good: $7,060
Fair: $6,315

NADA Guide
Clean Trade-in: $5,450

Edmunds
Private Party: $5,958

The Lancer OZ has 120hp, not 150 and the posting is completely plagiarized from
http://www.theautochannel.com/...ews/2002/russ0145.html
The U.S.-spec Lancer shares its basic chassis structure with its World Rally Championship competitor cousin, the Lancer Evolution. But the Lancer Evo's high-output turbocharged engine doesn't exactly make the Federal emissions-control people smile with joy, so we get a 2.0-liter, 120-horsepower engine. That does keep the price very reasonable, and it's still enough for the spirited performance demanded by budget-minded WRC fans, while providing the good fuel economy demanded by most other small sedan buyers....
Interestingly, the Lancer O.Z not only got admiring looks from young enthusiasts (indicating that Mitsubishi is right on target with its styling) but from my 90-year old neighbor as well. "What is that cute little car? I like it," she said.

ya, the OZ Rally is nothing but the regular Lancer with 15 inch OZ wheels and perhaps an aerokit of somesort. my coworker has one and frankly I do like how it looks.
$9000 is a bit overpriced imo. try look for OZ Rally version on www.cars.com and compare from there.

(link function not working well on my IE)
anyway, hope the link works, and if it does, you can see the Lancer is holding on it's price quite well.

Looks like the guy ripped off the review. I just learned it's a manual, and I am looking for an automatic.

Would the ES and LS have the same handling as the OZ Rally? I really liked how smooth it handles corners and curves, and I haven't driven a ES or LS model before.

don't quote me on this, but you can look in autos.msn.com and I believe that's where I read the difference.

the ES has a tad thicker anti-sway bars than the LS. and the OZ Rally is a purely cosmetic upgrade over the ES.

the rally has nothing too fancy.. gf owns one. it has the wheels, and the interior white faced gauges. nothing else. i think you get a option of spoiler. As far as i know suspension is the same. the car is not faster, nor smoother. that car will get murdered on a rally course.

we asked about trade in price... sub $5k for a 03 with 40k miles. its paid off now and i told her to drive the wheels off it. maintence wise its been decent. i haven't taken extreme care of the car, but it gets by. now it has a upper oil leak but not a crazy one.

I own a 2002 Lancer ES but my wife drives it. I just had the timing belt and water pumped changed at 97k last year(now 110k) and was told that the timing belt was still in great shape(interference type head designed). I am the second owner and I picked it up in the spring of 2003 for $8300 from a rental car agency with 22k miles on it. The bottom of the car is kinda scraped up with the exhaust system slightly banging somewhere mildly sometimes near the transmission but I love the car. I got 38 mpg (automatic) going from Lovelock, Nv to the Utah border going constantly at 75 mph. Very roomy for a compact car.

At the time I bought the car in 2003, I noticed that the resale value of Lancer's really sucked but I like Mitsubishi cars. I figured the original owner took a 40-45% depreciation hit the first year and the car still had the factory warranty so I took advantage of it. Anyways, in the past two years, I noticed that Lancer's have a incredible resale price and they hold their value pretty well.

A good rule of thumb is that KBB is usually on the high side for reasonable used car values. So if they are asking nearly 30% more than KBB, you've got one seriously overpriced car on your hands.

OZ ralley is nothing special, just some plastic trim. The car is ok for what it is, a 2.0L lower tier Japanese econobox.
