Any chance there's an alarm in it? My 2001 Eclipse would do what you're describing once in a while, turns out the alarm was cutting spark. Once I bypassed it I never had another problem.

Agreed though, it's either fuel, air or spark. Most likely you're getting air so one or the other isn't being delivered. Figure out which and work it backwards. It'll get you down the right path at least.
