Just helped a friend of mines purchased a Car.

Dealer priced sticker =$25740.00 w/o tax, license fee, and documents

Got them lower it to =$25200.00 Out the Door :)

EDIT: OUT THE DOOR means Including all tax, License fee, document fee, and whatever else fee the dealer adds

its a 2002 Silver 2Dr Honda Accord Coupe:

Black Leather Seats
200hp V6 Engine
6 disc-CD charge w/ tape and AM/FM
Moon Roof
Keyless entry and Alarm
Automatic shift

Was wondering did we get a lemon or was this a fair deal?

I don't want to crap on this thread and I truly don't intend to but can you please explain how this car is as good as a V6 Altima? Like seriously, the Altima is better! You can even get a low-end Maxima for that price. I'm not trying to be a clown but I really think that $25k for an accord is a gross use of money!

ooh here come the Nissan monkeys - just because it has a 240hp V6 does not automatically make it better than any car on the road. Quality and build don't even compare to Hondas.

I think he overpaid a little bit...a friend's Accord (loaded 4 cylinder only cost him $21)

I am not a nissan monkey just because I like them! A v6 altima is probably cheaper as well. I think nissan and honda are highly comporable for build quality.

The 6 cylinder version of accord would add on quite a bit so it doesn't seem a heck of a lot pricier than your friend's 4 cylinder considering that.

well, this friend of mines don't like Nissan for some odd reason. Maybe from the old days where he owned a Sentra<---Crappy car

Reasons for purchasing his car:

1. Need a Car(NOW!)
2. Looks
3. Brand Name
4. Handling vs Power

Guess he got struck with the looks of the Accord Coupe. Which is some what nicer than the Altima to him.

thanks skoorb for the input <---- edited :D

raging: Add Tax and document fees to that 21K and you'll be in the 23K to 24K. This car was out the door Price with all leather and a V6 engine. California Tax happens to be 8% :(

Sounds a tiny bit high, but it will be a great car for years.

The Altima is still rough around the edges, people are just now starting to check them out. Within a few months we'll probably see an influx of them

My mom used to have a nissan maxima..the thing went through transmissions like they were going out of style..

25,2 was sticker(msrp) on new v6 accords when i got mine this year..

I would definitely see if you could lower it. Check out the invoice price on cars.com and argue up from that....

Never...i repeat never argue down from msrp

Probably a good price. On carsdirect.com A 2002 Accord Coupe EX V6 costs 23305 ($100 over invoice) so adding on tax, title, license fees.. I'm sure they somewhat equate

It's official, Skoorb is a nissan boy ;). Seriously, it's up to the buyer. I would prefer the Altimar with V-6 over the Accord Coupe, since I like 4-door sedans more than coupe. Since the Altimar doesn't offer a coupe version, and if you like coupe, the Altimar is not your car. Not very complex, me think ;)

its pretty good considering what you're getting, honda accord silver coupe, very nice indeed for out the door! also, if you're in southern ca, they tend to hike the price a bit considering the competition of all the imports down here

Check this out. He didn't get ripped off, but he didn't get all that great a deal either. He paid "a fair price". Honda dealers also have a 3% holdback, which in this case amounts to $681, that could've been used as an additional bargaining tool.

However, I love Hondas. I have owned 3 of them. This is a great car! Good looking too, IMHO. I should've bought an Accord coupe instead of the sedan...but my son was still in a car seat at the time. Accord is gone now. Now, I drive a 2001 Trooper :D

I know that historically few Honda dealers have been all that big on discounts, but I still think that there's some room for improvement with that price. It depends how much you like to haggle, and how persistant and resolute you're ready to be.

At this point, you and your buddy are probably gonna have to visit another Honda dealer or two, at least for leverage. Never tell 'em that the Honda is your only, or your No. 1 choice.

As for Nissans, the new Altima has really snagged my attention, for exterior looks and performance potential. But that wasn't the point of your post, was it? Anyway, Honda of virtually all stripes have a balance, basic quality, integrity and durability, and "everyday" driving pleasure that make them fine choices. Too bad the Honda sylists tend towards the bland with their exterior iteration, is all.

That seems like a lot of money for *only* a honda. Not to crap on hondas, but that seems like a lot of dough for what is just a two door family car without much flair or pizzaz.

That's just me though.

I was exactly in the same situation about a month ago. I needed a car desperately because my Acura Integra of 12 years and 217000 miles started to die on me. So naturally, when I started to look for another car I went to an Acura dealer. In those 12 years I had nothing major go wrong with my Integra, just regular maintenace and an alternator that went bad on me about a year ago. Now 12 years ago, I was in college and an Integra was just perfect for my needs. Today I need a bigger car. CL and TL were beyond my budget and the RSX is WAY too small for me. I was looking a sedan.

Call me a Nissan "fanboy" or what you want, but I bought an Altima 02 SE with auto trannny, V6, traction control, ABS, Side impact air bags, 17" alloy rims, 6 disc Bose stereo, moon roof, keyless entry and alarm and all the other power accessories for $24725, after tax about $27K Basically it was loaded without leather. Before you guys get on my @ss about not being loyal to Acura or Honda, I really wanted to buy an Accord V6 but I just couldn't see myself driving a car that 60 year old grandmothers would drive. Heck my whole family drives Honda, 1 Odyssey and 2 Civics. I wanted to be different. I needed my car to have some spirit.

Now many of you have probably read that the interior of the Altima is cheap and the fit and finish is subpar to Hondas. Well I have to admit, you're right. They could have done alot better with the materials they chose to don't seem to match the quality and finish with the rest of the car.

$25200 for an 2002 Accord is not bad but not good either. You can price one out at Cars Direct for about $100 over Invoice. Dude just tell your friend to enjoy his new car. Remember at least we are driving "new" cars.

Got my Ex/l out the door for 22.5 with a msrp of 23.9, plus mudguards and a pinstripe brought it over 24.1 k.

How much was all the taxes and registrations and all that other crap?

That's a common price, it sounds like he got an EX series. I've been looking at them and tried to buy one on Saturday, but they want more down. :(

If you bargan enough, you could get them to drop a large amount. My dad bought a 2000 Civic EX (In Aug. 2000) for $13,400, when the sticker price was $16,999 - so trust me, they will go down.
