I bought a 2005FPW, loving it right now. Half life 2 looks AMAZING on it in widescreen. So I totally do not regret my purchase at all. The 2001fp may have a little more space, but the 2005FPW has much better contrast ratio and better response time.
For me it was a no-brainer. I'm buying for the future and I think widescreens are more future proof.

Are you running half life at your monitors native resolution?

If not how do they look?

I am just worried about not being able to run games at the LCD's native resolution and having to scale the picture.

The old LCD monitors had horrible scaling. How are these next generation LCD's look when games are scaled?

I have no problems with positioning, perhaps it's even better since you can see the edge of objects better.

I guess it's personal preference, but to me, that second shot looks like I shouldn't be bumping into things yet. It looks like I should be able to take a couple of more steps forward. I would be pretty frustrated playing the game like that, espescially when you have to jump onto crates and walk on thin ledges later in the game.
