wow that sucsk. Thanks fo the link because I was considering buying a 2001FP. I was finally going to go with a LCD afte reading so many good things about it but after this I may just go with the 22" NEC CRT monitor I was planning on going with unless there is another LCD that is good at around 22" since I would rather have an LCD if it worked good. It sounds to me that not many people are having problems with it so maybe I will go with a 2001FP.. Im not really sure yet.

EDIT..jeez it seems like alot of people are having problems then I though. You guys think I should go with a 22" NEC CRT or soem othger LCD?

Well for the most part I think that guy is just really picky ...although I cannot explain the supposed burn in pic he has.

I have not experienced any of those issues, to me even the dead pixel shot he has would not bug me. A guy that is too picky is doomed to a long series of disappointments because I already know there is not perfect monitor.

I doubt I will ever go CRT again and I had one of the best CRTs around, a Sony 21" G520P.

90% of my PC use involves the internet and for that the 2001FP is spectacular. The burn in pic was the most disturbing out everything there so hopefully my unit does not develop this problem...though I think the 2001FP carries a 3 year warranty so there is nothing to worry about at the moment.

I ran my Sony desktop at 1600x1200 , being used to such a sharp text and an abundance of space there is not going back to anything less. The 2001FP was one of the few LCDs that are native 1600x1200 I had to choose from and it was without a doubt the best priced one @ $700 delivered.

looks like im gonna save myself 680$ for now... thanks soo much for the link!
Edit, stuck pixels are the most annoying thing ever. It doenst take a picky person to get annoyed.

That image burn in thing is a first for me. I have never had problems with my Samsung 213T and would recommend it wholeheartedly.

Thats cool but I am pickier than the average joe and a few dead pixels on an LCD that has almost 2 million pixels would not bother me. Those pics are very close.

Do you guys suggest I just buy a 2001FP then? Would you guys suggest buying it off ebay though? Some say they are brand new and I do want to save quite a bit of cash

how many 2001 horrors have you heard the past month.. maybe 2-3 and they sell thousands of these daily.. i purchase over 200 of these for work and I haven't notice any bad pixels yet.. but im sure some has it.. and theres always a bad monitor or dropped in shipping.

I personally have 3 2001 fp, REV A0 manu 10/2003, still working well.

I also owned a 1800 and upgrdaded to 1801 FP, 1901 (sold) and got a 1905 delivered yesterday

No prob with any of the dells I gotten so far. I had a 2000 FP with blown DVI but that was a common Dell problem (lots of complain on their forums), also 1 had a blown backlight after 3 years, and thats out of over 1000 panels my company owns

not every panel and manufacturing process is perfect.. thats why some hdd fail faster than others.

All I ever hear is how great these monitors are. They sell thousands of them I am sure a few are going to be bad. If you do get a bad one send it back and they send you a new one. I just order 2 of these on that 40% off Dell deal. I should get them on wednesday-Friday. I will definatly post about my experiencees with them once I get to use them a bit.

Wake you fools. Of course there are going to be some defective lcds in the the tons dell sells. All products have a percentage of defective items, how complicated is that to understand?

i have 2 stuck subpixels on mine, stuck on (green). Otherwise no problems

there is no indication of what resolution the pix of the 2001fp are in. the native resolution is 1600x1200, and those pictures do not look like they were at 1600x1200 to me.

As far as I know, you can't get burn in on a LCD screen. Getting a large enough number of pixels to become stuck at exactly the same time while an image is being displayed is an exercise of such improbability as to boggle the imagination.

I am about to pull the trigger on one of these monitors. I have seen what the poster over at HardForum describes as screen dooring on a 2001fp. Would this be a setting that can be adjusted to get rid of the little grid? Am I just hyper sensitive. I have a 2000fp and dont see any issues like this on my LCD.

1) Dead/stuck pixels:
My 2001fp has two stuck blue subpixels. They don't bother me unless I'm actually looking for stuck pixels. During regular use they are completely invisible.

2) Burn-in:
It's not the same burn-in as you would get on a CRT. My 2001fp gets the same burn-in affect after reading some of the very long threads at avsforum.com. The text from IE gets stuck on the top left of the screen. It goes away after regular use in 10-15 minutes. It doesn't bother me any.

3) Screendoor:
I'm not sure if the screendoor affect is due to the display panel or the anti-glare coating applied to the screen. Might be some combination of the two. This is a little annoying and it harms picture quality, but it isn't a deal breaker for me.

Well if you do, you can always get a new one. I don't notice it but I sit about 2 ft away from the monitor. I guess if you sit close enough you can see it.

I don't know the cause of the phenomenon, but I know it exists to some extent.

I got one of these about a month ago after seeing my friends. The thing is amazing! As of now 4 of my friends and I all have them, and none of us have noticed any stuck pixels. Of course I've not exactly looked for them on their screen. I've only noticed the screen door effect on one of the images I use for my background, and that's only in the bottom left of the image. I think that has more to do with how the image is resized then anything else though since it's more noticable in Linux then in XP. I'd say take advantage of the deal going on now that's got them at $650 and buy one.

ive had 2 x 2001fp since april and i'm happy with both. running off of 9800pro. though i did have a bit of advantage over most 2001fp buyers because dell double charged and double shipped my order. i ended up with 4 monitors instead of 2 so i picked the ones that were pristine and sent the other two back.

My 2001fp looks like ass when connected to the D-Sub connector, but is absolutely beautiful with DVI. I wonder how that guy has his connected . . .

Trust me, it's very possible. I have a friend with a nice Samsung 19" monitor and he has very bad burn in. It is indeed VERY possible on LCDs.

I also just received a 2001FP. The first one they sent me was defective and they sent me another one next day air. I received it and it is perfect. Both monitors had no dead pixels and honestly I think that guys monitor was an anomoly. However I do know for a fact, read above post, that burn in can occur on LCD monitors.
